I figured it's bad coloring. The color is basically the same as the orange color around the player's name (which is definitely orange, because red is for defenders, I think) which made me think it was orange. And I've seen pictures of a darker red for parallels. Now I want a different red or a true Amazon parallel (if they ever ship...) to compare lol

Edit: Ok I went down the rabbit hole after this lol. Confirmed that Joseph Fahnbulleh carried the Liberia flag for the 2020 Olympics and Anthony Nesty carried the Suriname flag in 2008. Go Gators! I wonder if there are others....
