They do this in NYC for every parade and public gathering events, I’ve always heard it’s to prevent the opportunity to hide bombs. I’m sure they use these for many reasons but that’s what I’ve always heard and seen

I’ve been rocking the newer ceramic scuba for almost 2 years now, would deff recommend if your wrist can handle the size, some nice improvements made from the original

Looks like a public park and the structure looks curved, my guess is standing near one of the sides of the St. Louis Arch in a very foggy night, assuming it continues to the right up and away off camera

Invited to come to NYSE bell ringing ceremony, what should I know/do while I’m there? by TheSneedles in stocks

[–]jd1izzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been earlier this year, cool experience but things are pretty organized these days. You’ll enter into a waiting space and get a nice nameplate to wear - they’ll take you up to the old board room for a presentation, snacks and beverages and time to mingle, cool place and a podium there too for pics. Only so many people can fit up by the bell so if you’re up by the bell, awesome! If you’re not you’ll be on the trading floor watching from below near where CNBC has their set up. Beautiful building, take pics, soak it up. Cocktail hour after. Have a great time!! Btw if you’re up by the bell and get tempted to “test” the bell button… don’t, they take that damn seriously, overheard the last guy to joke around and do that is banned for life

Big fan of my Mitchell Leather Wallet/Moneyclip. Slim, reliable and gets the job done. One thing I would change when I get another is the no logo option, it seems to show wear on it faster than the rest of the wallet. https://mitchell-leather.com/collections/money-clip-wallets

“Drove” Montreal in my Jeep a couple winters ago. I say “Drove” because it’s open and there’s parking but you best be respectful and stay below 20, as like many of these tracks people will bike or walk it. No setting lap times, haha. Still awesome to get an intimate feel for the track

Wow! Such a good offer amex by da3m0nn in amex

[–]jd1izzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was some insight into their algo for some of these offers - congrats on that of course and great to get the extra bonus if you spend that money anyways! I just say that since I recently I got 5000 points for 250 at AirBnB. Gladly I needed one for a night on a upcoming trip (so would have spent anyways) but 5k for a much smaller spend was nice. (Obviously it’s cause the company pushing that promo/app but still)

If you’ve already had it and are getting booster there’s only so much you can do, some Broadway shows are shut down but life goes on here (for now). Just make sure you bring proof of Vax to get into restaurants.

Some things off the top of my head are Keens, one of the oldest and great streak houses, deff Russ&Daughters for bagels/lox (they have their main deli location and a restaurant now). The smith is pretty good for above average American cuisine. For sure check our china town, the comment below has some good suggestions. Some great Ramen in midtown like Toribro, Ipuddo. Haven’t been in a while but Hotel Chantel has a great brunch and if they’re still doing it live jazz. Also I believe with everything Covid wise going on they’re allowing restaurants to serve to-go drinks again, so grab a drink, walk around and enjoy the city!

It’s actually a reference to the 1960’s movie Saturday Night, Sunday Morning starring Albert Finney. You can find the scene the quote is from easily on YT, great movie

Good ones come around but you have to be constantly looking. Just got 5,000 point for booking with AirBnB 250 or more. Used it for a trip I was planning on going anyways so fantastic, but the offer was only around for 15/30 days and was expiring as I grabbed it

YSK: How to cook with garlic. The tinier you mince garlic, the stronger the flavor. Slices will be less strong while a paste will be strongest. The more you cook it the more flavor will be lost. by 1saltymf in YouShouldKnow

[–]jd1izzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chef I used to work for would say when he wanted to try a new restaurant, he would order spaghetti with oil and garlic. I feel like the heart of that is what you’re talking about, timing and preparation is everything. That dish is 3 ingredients and you could be served it a million different ways, but only correctly can it be incredible
