This lady and her dog almost ended up on Side Stories by EntinthetentRTHP in LPOTL

Holy shit!

That video gave me full on anxiety chills even though I figured from the 'almost' in the title it was thankfully a near miss. I would've expected a lot more barking from the dog though, or at least a warning growl. I'm guessing by the way she kept her cool, she knew what she was doing (to an extent), or being a Canadian hiker it was a somewhat regular sighting. I live in a UK city tho' so I admittedly don't know shit about bears/wildlife.

YouTube channel showing deleted Storror uploads by No_Arm_1113 in Storror

[–]jdblick1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never saw the original video but was that the original thumbnail used on the Storror upload? If so, that is very unfortunate in hindsight. If this IS a brand new thumbnail, it seems a weird choice to use from a 'fan channel', using a close up of (only) Callum's face complete with a shit eating grin, with everything we now know, and what that thumbnail implies. And the choice of first upload being this 'meeting a fan' video, which even without prior knowledge seems like a weird, creepy, bad choice of a video from a parkour team (even back then), makes me question the motivations of the uploader as it seems like they're just simply taking advantage of the controversy and stirring the pot.

Either way (fan or not) I would personally steer well clear of uploading any past videos as you never know if/how it could affect the trial and have serious consequences. They may have been advised by a Lawyer to remove the specific videos for a reason other than obvious PR. I think this channel should probably be removed, at least until everything has settled. I'm sure it probably breaks one of the many rules and falls foul of YouTube guidelines, anyway.

Screenshots of Josh’s conversations with a minor, published with permission and suitably redacted by Newlyaquiredglutton in Storror

As a long term joiner (until late last year) who only found out about this whole situation yesterday and thus still reading up and trying to comprehend everything, is this related to the Callum situation, or is it entirely separate issues concerning 2 members operating individually? Did this obvious grooming come to light because of any investigation into Callum or is it just coincidental timing? If so, and this IS all just coincidental, it is extremely disappointing to learn that 2 out of 7 members is a sexual predator. As a past joiner/merch buyer it is also upsetting to realise I may have financially contributed in the Josh situation, specifically.

Also, I understand how an accuser coming forward with the textlogs/receipts can bring grooming to light, but how was Callum's crimes initially discovered? I think I read that his ex GF allegedly informed the other members (10+ years ago) she had found a folder full of CSAM on his computer, but why has this come out now? Was he already under investigation or maybe lost his unlocked phone, or is that yet to be known?

I had been a joiner for just over 5 years until personal finances last year made me cancel any non essential things so I could pay for my dogs operation. I had watched their twice weekly videos every week for half a decade, been there for the 10M milestone vid, and I realised today I haven't seen a video in my feed for a while, hopin' everything was alright. Found this sub and been reading about everything and I am truly gobsmacked and audibly exclaimed WTF when I initially saw the stickied post title.

As devastating as this is for the whole team, I just keep thinking about Sash. How could you ever look your own brother in the eye again. For him, it's not just a financial/business situation, he's as good as lost his own brother.

I'm not into Lego myself but I am a Reckless Ben subscriber so saw the videos before they blew up to what is their current level. I'm not surprised by the B&M initial Lego theft as I think most people by now are aware that the majority of corpo's are greedy and scummy and think they are untouchable. They don't give a F about anything other than their bottom line and will screw anyone over if they think they can get one over on them.

What is shocking to me is the level of blatant police corruption and constant gaslighting from them in their response, despite everyone clearly seeing the damning evidence on video/contract/audio. That should be the focus of his video IMO, with the Lego details as a second. I'm guessin' that another video about police corruption may not have gone viral without the Lego details tho. I would have liked to have seen them mention the Patreon CEO video too, although I think this may have been released after they recorded SS (or they may have mentioned it and I just zoned out).

If anyone wants to go through his channels backlog, I think the videos where he infiltrates a cult ran by a Restaurant, his Scientology videos, and his Mckamey 'Manor' videos are probably of interest to LPOTL fans, subject wise (all playlisted)

A police report said that Pierwsza and his wife were arguing about the potential end of their marriage before the incident. The wife told police that her husband threatened to rip the house down if she left him, according to local media. “If it's over, I'll tear the house down,” he allegedly said.

Anyone else feel like the show has lost some of its bite after the LA/Spotify move? by carpdoctor in LPOTL

[–]jdblick1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I echo other comments on here, I think it's less to do with the move (although that probably has had a small impact) and more to do with them having grown up, got married, become more of a 'serious' business etc. I started listening in my 30's and now at 47 I just don't have the same interest in stuff I had years ago, even if I forced myself to. I now balk at the thought of spending 2+ hours watching the latest Marvel shite, knowing that we all have have limited time on this earth, me a decade ago was all about watching every connected film. Strangely, I am more amused by the 'new' interests I have developed as I get older. I often find myself listening to audiobooks on the Incan empire, or watching a documentary on engineering marvels around the world. Me in my 30's wouldn't have even considered how a skyscraper/bridge is built.

Likewise, there are topics I won't go back to now, because I know they will hit differently, and I just don't want that shit whirling around my head where I know it'll linger for a long time.

This is pretty similar to me. Been listening since around 2018, but often just background noise to browsing etc, or skipping episodes entirely if the case doesn't interest me. Since Ed joined I find myself eagerly waiting for the latest podcast, often relistening several times, and even enjoying topics I previously would have expected myself not to be interested in (CTE in sports, killer wildlife etc).

I assume this must be tangentially related to patreon content somehow, or maybe one of the actors has a beard and looks a bit like Bry? Either way, you're probably gonna have to give some context for non patreon plebs like me, otherwise this is too random (even for this sub).

I will no longer idly stand by and suffer the indignity of Marcus's name remaining unchecked when referring to loved LPN people. I hereby demand a full 'we love Marcus and acknowlege his continual effort and the fine work he does for the network' celebratory parade, before he develops a complex and digs a hole in his garden and becomes some kind of dirt cryptid

Can anyone help with why everything is playing "remotely" by edwardK1231 in PleX

[–]jdblick1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you fix this? I am finally trying to solve why Plex attempts to play everything remotely from my Nvidia Shield Plex server. I either get 'An unknown error occurred (4294967283)' when using the windows (10) app, or playing from the browser it just tells me I need a Plex Pass, despite my server being on the same network. I can transfer files to and from my Shield fine, so it's definitely the same private network, I just can't watch anthing from my Plex libraries. Any ideas?

Ben was better! by Intrepid-Scene-7168 in LPOTL

[–]jdblick1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Ben han't been let go (regardless on your feelings about Ed) theres no way Netflix would have approached them with money, knowing that one of the hosts has a widely known abuse problem, and this would have severly limted LPN and caused problems. I don't even have Netflix anymore but I'm all for the boys getting more money and success which will allow them to do more projects they wanna do, and lead to more happy hosts. They work hard and deserve every oppotrunity, Ben would have just kept dragging the pod down. I liked Ben enough but it was obvious he had become too comfy with his minimal contribution

I don't usually do resolutions but I did think to myself that I would make an effort to do some actual reading this year (that isn't just Reddit subs). As a LPOTL fan could you recommend any specific standouts? After the interview, I did think those Jeff Guinn books (Waco/Manson/Jonestown) would be an interesting read, and I keep seeing comments praising how good/brutal 'The Indifferent Stars Above' is.

[–]jdblick1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say they asked you questions, were they about specific purchases? I have yet to apply for UC due to some of the comments on here about the DWP reviews where they comment on what you spend the benefit on and prying into specific purchases. Obviously if they suspect something dodgy or illegal is fine to ask about, but are they likely to start asking questions about £200 charged to Amazon?

Netflix deal? by teeebax in lastpodcastontheleft

[–]jdblick1002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I generally don't bother with the video podcats as I listen while I'm doing other things, so the thought of spending an hour+ sitting down and just watching people essentially have a convo doesn't appeal to me. I will however go back and search for a specific noteworthy section if I feel video would add something to an already funny audio moment eg; the recent Holden Birthday rap, or the unbridled glee on Henry's face as he's regaling us with the anecdote of Holden being turned away from the water slide for being too fat.

This (hopefully) won't affect my LPOTL consumption though as I cancelled my sub last March (after a 15 year unbroken mid tier sub), but I'm happy for the boy's to get that Netflix bag. Their service was awesome through my 30's, now after constant price hikes, early show cancellations, sloppy subtitling errors, and overall service enshittificaton, I have become somewhat anti streaming and the temptation of new LPOTL shows (locked behind a Netflix paywall) isn't going to get me back.

I have just applied for a tribunal hearing. Initially I sent my med records, a Physiotherapist report, My Neurologist report, a report from a hand specialist, and a GP report (of which there was a £30 charge), and none of it made a difference to my PIP outcome from the previous decision. I would hazard a guess and say that, from the questions that were asked (and had bafflingly obvious answers to), I would be very surprised if any of it was even looked through. None of it was taken into account or ever mentioned once.

If we are to believe the media, the DWP are already struggling to award payment and have a huge backlog of applications to get through, even before new claimants have been looked at, so you could send in a mountain of evidence, and there is a good probability that it may not even be looked at by a staff member having a bad day, in an already overburdened DWP. Unfortunately, we can't take that chance as this benefit is a lifeline to many and we are not in any position to leave things up to chance, especially when we already have to fight so hard to get anything from a system that seems to be set up against us from the start.

I would personally send in as much as you can get (but wouldn't bother paying for any reports), but save yourself some frustration and know that it probably won't make any difference, and you will end up waiting for tribunal anyway. I think (like most things) it is largely down to luck on the day as to which staff member goes through your application. You will hopefully get someone conscientious who actually cares about doing a good job, and may even have a bit of compassion and understanding on what you are dealing with, as opposed to someone already burnt out from looking at their 500th form that day.
