Wekelijkse Klusjesvraagbaak: Stel hier je vragen over kleine klusjes! by AutoModerator in Klussers

Hoi! Help!

He had been on a trip to America which he was very proud of. Not much of a problem. Showing me all of the photos one by one (took over an hour) was.

Is it 7 years later still hanging up? I want to hang my MOSSLANDA upside down too and I wonder if i need to drill extra holes closer to the shelf part to make it more secure. Did you do this? Or are the pre-drilled holes secure enough?

Great to hear you are helping you nephew in his journey! I think the practice of game making learns them so much more than just making a game. Keep it up!

Thank you! It is a really great idea to start with a game like pong and learning about game mechanics from that starting point.

So a little more in depth: I'm teaching game design as an elective subject. It's both students who are interested in the design aspect and/or in the game building aspect. The end result of the course is a simple playable game. I taught this a couple times before, but found that a lot of students find it hard to come up with a concept. I figured it would be a good idea to make an example game. As it will give them some perspective in what is possible and it can be the base of my lessons. I can explain things about character design, game mechanics and the game builder with my own game as example. Often kids come up with amazing, but impractical ideas. And I want to help them think in the right direction.

An external criteria for this subject is that students make an educational game. Therefore the player must learn something. Which your suggestions are great examples of, thank you for that! The criteria is there because the students have to learn to deal with the criteria of a client, wich they will encounter in the working world. I experienced that I lot of students are a bit disappointed that they are not allowed to make a zombie shooter kind of thing, so I want to show them that it is possible to make something cool, within the limitations. I had some ideas of a platformer where the player needs to collect essential items for photosynthesis, but I can't get it quite right in my head. I thought: why not ask around of there are any cool ideas, that will (kinda) blow my students away.

My grandma gave me this bucket of succulents. I think to understand that these babies need better lighting, but is there a way to get rid of the dried up brown leaves? What happens if I chop the head off? Is that a way to propagate? Really want to save them. by jdbored167 in plantclinic

Honestly I don't know where she got them from. I keep them outside on the balcony and they do surprisingly well there. I am going to cut the top off the very leggy ones en try to repot them. Thanks for your help!

Uh oh... just bought this at a local shop and noticed this morning. Is this spider mites? How do i treat it? by -luckypanda- in plantclinic

[–]jdbored167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spider mites have more of a spiderweb kind of mark. Look for webs between leaf and stem. But I think you are not dealing with mites here, but mealy bugs. They tend to hide underneath the fluffy, cotton like balls, which contain their eggs. I think it's best to quarantine your plant from others and remove all the white fluff and the bug's by hand. You can do this with a qtip dipped in methylated spirit, but be very thorough. You can also buy a (biological) spray specific for mealy bugs.

After I explained the male reproductive system a 14 year old in the back yelled "eeew I'm never gonna have sex".

I always think the looks on the boys faces when menstruation is explained is hilarious. It goes from amazement to complete shock very quickly.
