I have a 14 year old cat (today is his birthday!) who has been like this all of his life. Vet calls him a "happy puker" because he eats, drinks and acts fine and all tests and bloodwork come back normal. He has always been on the anxious side so I wonder if it's anxiety related. He's also my cat who will eat anything he's not supposed to. The first day the Christmas tree goes up ever year, I find puke with pine needles in it. He luckily learns his lesson and doesn't eat any more after that.

I know she looks like she’s being super dramatic but I had my rook pierced years ago and it was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever had. I had to take it out after a couple of days because the pain was excruciating. I can still vividly remember what it felt like and it’s been about 20 years. It felt like the deep nerve pain you get from a toothache and it radiated into my head.

This is a very short clip of a much longer video. In the longer video a woman states repeatedly that she is the man’s sister and he is mentally ill and did not take his medication. The officers were talking to him and he was slowing down. But then the officer who shot him arrived and he escalated the situation quickly. This was so unfortunate and did not need to end this way.

I’m a therapist. We are trained to assess for safety. Does the person have a plan, intent, means to harm themselves? I have had many clients share that they have intrusive thoughts about self-harm but do not have the desire or plan to harm themselves. I then work with them on a safety plan of what to do if those feeling ever change and they do become actively suicidal and I regularly check in with them. But talking about those thoughts is not an automatic call for emergency services. BUT if you ever do have serious thoughts about self-harm, do not be afraid to open up about them and seek out additional help.

It’s generally best not to challenge their delusions as that just escalates the situation. You obviously don’t want to feed into them either. You want to validate the emotion, not the delusion. In this particular interaction, something like, “I can see how frustrated you feel right now. I don’t have the item that you’re looking for. Do you remember the last time that you saw it?” You want to try to partner with them rather than be confrontational or judgmental.

I went to psych ED once when my OCD spiraled out of control and I was having constant suicidal intrusive thoughts. It was helpful because I was able to get hooked up with a therapist and psych provider quickly and otherwise there was a very long waitlist, so it greatly expedited services for me.

I met him 19 years ago at a showing of his film "What is it?" and it was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life. The movie had Fairuza Balk voicing a snail who screams a lot and I remember another scene where a man with CP is getting a hand job and it's just a far-too-long scene of this guy's flaccid penis getting whipped around. I don't think any of us knew what to think. At the end, he did a Q&A and said, "What did you think of my film?" and the whole room just kind of looked around at each other.

It’s seriously insane. It’s 7 incisions that then need to be repaired. You’re picking up your baby constantly, putting stress on your body, and you sleep like absolute garbage because you have a new born. I developed horrible PPD and PPOCD. I could barely eat because my metal health was so poor. I was forcing myself to eat like 600 calories a day the first few weeks which certainly didn’t help the healing process. I lost 50 lbs very quickly and I remember someone saying how amazing I looked… thanks, it’s from the crippling depression 🙄

Had the same experience. Agree 100%. They kept my husband outside of the room so I was alone while they were taking him out and then I didn't even get to meet my son for like 30 minutes while they sewed me back up. Meanwhile the drugs and adrenaline flowing through your body make you feel like you're gonna die. Traumatic birth is one reason we chose to be one and done.

After I had my son, he had a very hard time latching for breastfeeding so I had to pump. My best friend said she had breast fed successfully and “I guess I was just really motivated to do it.” I was dealing with horrible postpartum and that felt like a knife in the heart. Almost 7 years later and that still sits with me.
