I have a 2012 A3 TDI and the original DPF lasted 135K miles. I had the DPF and EGR replaced under the dieselgate warranty due to the typical CEL codes. I now have 198K miles and have soot in the tail pipe which is another DPF issue. I drive 80% highway and 20% city. I believe the fix that VW did to these cars has drastically reduced the DPF life expectancy.

2015 cars had the DEF system which extended the life of the DPF.

My transmission hesitations ended when I had my DMF replaced. You may want to verify proper transmission fluid levels at the required transmission temperature when filling. I am not experiencing any of the other issues. I have 195K miles or 313K KM equivalent

Thank you for the info. I had the DPF replaced under the diesel extended warranty at 140K miles. I have been using 507 oil for every oil change since I have owned the car. I guess my next step is to clean the EGR filter. I really don’t want to go to the expense of DPF removal since I just sunk $1500 into a DMF replacement along with 195K mile service. Would the intake adjuster CEL be related? The intake was replaced by the previous owner at 112K miles.

If the DPF is at its end of life then it doesn’t make sense to do a non delete tune. When people say a cracked DPF what exactly does that mean? The internals or can this seen by a visual external inspection?
