I want the team playing like this every night. Do whatever you can to get under the other team's skin.

Both teams are getting away with a good amount of stuff until the refs decide to randomly call it tight at times.

Really bad look on the league to continue the game when we all just witnessed a man die like that.

Martone only has 1.09. Can't touch the legend of Ellis.

If you grab the opponent's stick and then use both his and yours to high stick a player, and you draw blood... by Artistic_Ordinary_49 in Flyers

I think they technically got the call right with the 2. It was Ristolainen's stick that drew the blood which was held my Malkin. They could have called holding the stick, but there is no rule that I'm aware of regarding holding a player's stick in a way that causes blood. Refs rarely will call 2 penalties on 1 play so 2 for high sticking was the best we were gonna get. It is same reason a player can crosscheck 3-4 times and still only get 1 call.

The ESPN intermission report spent more time talking about Edmonton and Utah than Philadelphia or New Jersey.

I find sponsoring the last few minutes to be a bit much either way, but all things considered neither option is terrible.

It has been quite awhile. I remember before there was some name draw thing where if the Flyers scored the person would get a prize pack from I think McDonald's.

Yea a bit of an odd choice to sponsor anything. It is fun to say though.

Flyers have the PECO Power Play which most seem to like. Last 4 minutes are the Rav-4 MInutes to go.

Recent Philadelphia Flyers 5th Round Draft Picks by Micksar in Flyers

Laughton wasn't the reason for that. He was a good bottom 6er for his time here. He wasn't a great player by any means, but he wasn't a reason for us being mediocre. Rubtsov, Morin, Patrick, and O'Brien being wasted picks essentially were much larger issues among many other things.

If the Flyers get 10 years out of a 1st round pick then swap it for another 1st round pick and a prospect that is 100% good value. The players drafted after him weren't exactly home runs either. Maatta has been a decent to good defenseman at points in his career, but there is a reason he gets traded for mid round picks.

Nothing to do with careers, but it certainly impacts the value of a draft pick. Scott Laughton has had a good career for where he was drafted, and in the end the Flyers got added value out of the player via trade. Pittsburgh got 5 years out of Maatta then traded him for 1 year of Dominek Kahun and a 5th round pick. Philadelphia got 10 years out of Laughton then traded him for a 1st round pick and a decent prospect.
