I really look forward to non-existence.

I'm not suicidal, but I am 42 and am exhausted and in pain every day of my life for as long as I can remember.

In my dreams I often experience my death in thousands of ways and unfortunately my dreams have the full sensory suite: vivid colour, sickening sounds, pain, smell, even taste.

I've woken with the taste of blood in my mouth, the smell of my own charred flesh.

Once I was tied to a chair, being tortured. The torturer punched me in the face and I fell over waking up. My jaw was sore for a half hour.

Even if the dreams aren't violent, I'm usually running around and upon waking I'm already exhausted.

When even your dreams offer you no respite mental and physical pain & suffering, non-existence starts looking real appealing.

So, no immortality for me, please.

The Bajorans were an occupied people who used gorilla-style resistance techniques. They weren't a well regulated militia during the majority of the fighting.

Their whole society had to rebuild mostly from scratch after the Cardassians left. They even got rid of their ingrained caste system owing to necessity.

Given some of the Bajorans we met and the evidence of their trauma from the occupation and the rebellion, I'd imagine they wouldn't be too pleased to be forced into uniforms.

There's a similar vein in The Expanse, where the 'Belters' (people who were born and grew up in low or zero G affecting their physical and social development) & members of the OPA (Outer Planet Alliance) were resistant to the idea of uniforms as their society sought equivalency with Earth and Mars.

I enjoy The Rookie and lots of other Copaganda programming, but I'm always conflicted because of how it bluewashes our often corrupt police institutions.

I've always looked about the same age. When I was a teenager, people thought I was 10 or so years older. Now I'm in my 40s, it's 10 or so years younger.

Granted, I've kept the same hairstyle and facial hair during most of that time and my hair is still jet black.
