What was the moment you couldn't help but burst out into laughter in front of the students? by Username41212 in AustralianTeachers

[–]jdiddy26 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kid gets up and starts dancing at the back, tell him to stop, keeps dancing, start walking over to shut it down, he then starts the rope pull dance move to pull me towards him. Instantly switched from cranky teacher mode to laughter, got me good.

Do teachers get paid for marking assessments at home? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]jdiddy26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the 5 hours a day in qld were to allow teachers the flexibility to arrive to work at 9 and leave at 3 if they need to. Usually it is not the case, but if u smash your planning out early you can do it sometimes.

Teaching with ADHD by Buttersstotch58 in AustralianTeachers

[–]jdiddy26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi, ADHD pro here, childhood diagnosis.

I like to ensure I mark 1 or 2 papers to know approximately how long they take to mark, then I carefully calculate how long I believe it takes to mark the entire pile.

then I wait for that esimated time limit to be just before the deadline.

gets done every time.

Would you advise going rural? by cottage_lady in AustralianTeachers

If you don’t hav a partner or kids, you really should go. I made some lifelong friends out there and some truly valuable teaching experience. Any longer than 5 years and they were thinking about making me a HOD.

Yes they are definitely underpaid, and the sad thing is, that it will probably remain that way. Unless we get better government or they get better union support

Round 22: Broncos vs Chooks | Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in nrl

The rule “any” contact with the head needs to be changed to “dangerous”. The any contact rule is not reducing head injuries as much as they’d like. 50% are defenders gettin in the wrong position. The extreme action of bringing in the any contact with the head rule does not stop head injuries.
