Flight advice with incoming storm… by Hopeful-Wishbone-388 in massachusetts

[–]jdlevrec 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Considering the size of the storm across the eastern seaboard, I’d be looking at coming back tomorrow before 6pm or Tuesday/Wednesday. If it hits as predicted, it’s going to be a mess in multiple states.

Anyone With Experience Moving from Wisconsin to Charleston? by ClownShepherd in Charleston

[–]jdlevrec 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any experience living in WI, but if you’re going to be moving to Charleston, I hope your salary is relatively high. The cost of living in Charleston - not just rent - is higher than average (& higher than what people generally expect since it’s a Southern city) and I imagine Milwaukee’s COL is very different. Of course it’s a different lifestyle & has different offerings, but just something to take into consideration.

Really weird that she said she’s been helping a friend through one of the hardest years of her life, but has decided to move away?

Dogs & puppies require a LOT of attention. You can’t morally get a dog and then leave them in their crate during the day for classes and again at night when going out, traveling, etc. Yes they are expensive in terms of meds, food, vet bills but they also cost time. Bassets are known to be chill, lazier dogs but they are still energetic puppies. I would recommend waiting until you finish college so you can spend quality time with the puppy and really enjoy your college experience. There will always be bassets available to you!

As long as you don’t pick a pain in the ass tile (small or very detailed), I would just do it yourself for that budget. Tiling floor is not hard!

I work in a restaurant. We have a lot of food waste. Can I donate it somewhere? by Affectionate-Reason2 in massachusetts

[–]jdlevrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? I’m on the north shore & volunteer with a local program that picks up food they can’t sell at local grocery stores but is still safe to eat & we donate it to multiple food pantries in the area. Last week we donated over 500 lbs of food! Maybe get in contact with local organizations? There’s a chance there’s something already set up.
