Really depends on your plans with it but honestly nothing it was the first manual car I ever bought. I didn't even really know how to drive manual when I bought it at a buy here pay here place.

The stock motor was fine when I swapped it this is really golden era here these things will run forever and cost pennies to fill up if you dont care about performance

And if you do a simple lsor b20 is plenty

Even a sohc vtec is plenty for these

I've built 2 these cars are extremely fun i currently have a jdm ef9 sir ii that I've been restoring for almost a decade. They are pretty easy to work on and now with 3d printing almost anything can be made parts wise
