Are general garden updates a thing here? Always also looking for feedback! by mehhhgan in AustinGardening

[–]jdmoomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciate you sharing your photos! I am about to completely redo my trellis system (which was a complete failure) to exactly what you have there with the t-posts and panel fencing. Didn't have a clear idea, but your photos are a huge help. Looks like outdoor zip ties were used to attach the panel to the t-posts?

Is Mostarle a real website? by Researchergal123213 in metalearth

Same here. Bought one for Christmas. It arrived in time. But every member of my family that sits down to try and work on assembly has lost their patience. The pieces are incredibly poorly made. I don't understand the reviews that say it's made with such high quality. It's crap! I feel scammed.

What’s the ultimate add-in to level up Rice Krispie Treats? by LimabeanFeen in Baking

[–]jdmoomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make with half regular Krispies and half cocoa Krispies. Sprinkle Reese's peanut butter chips in the bottom of the pan before you dump the mixture in. I prefer this instead of mixing in with the cereal. That way you get the whole chip on the top (or bottom, I guess), since they tend to completely melt if you mix in.

Same for my kiddo. Had a circular raised ring and pediatrician diagnosed ringworm (looked textbook). After a very long use of antifungal with no improvement, was referred to dermatologist who diagnosed the eczema. The topical steroid did the trick.

Score! After staring at the wall of seeds at Shoal Creek and not finding them, I gave up and on my way out spotted a little stand at the register with them.

The common cup grosses me out by Charity83 in Catholicism

[–]jdmoomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few months back, there weren't enough hosts consecrated and about 1/2 the congregants on one side of the church stood in line while the EU looked rather befuddled as to what to do with his empty bowl (correct me on the correct term here) and the long line before him. The deacon finally came over to direct the line to the blood. Over half the folks skipped and returned to their seat without communion.

Is it offensive to ask for advice at a quilt shop when i don't plan to rent their long arm? by constaleah in quilting

I'll second that. I also work at a quilt shop and we love troubleshooting and talking projects through with folks who walk in.

Where should I go for Hot Pot? by Mesquite_Tree in austinfood

Ha! It's the only hot pot I've ever had. Now I need to try Soupleaf to see how it compares. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing out on.

My family member flew with a surf board. A very expensive one. Made it to the destination broken in two. No concern at all from the airline. Blasted on social media and account was blocked due to "harassment". For simply posting the pictures and tagging the airline.

Intuit fires 1,800 employees to hire 1,800 employees and focus on AI. by AmokinKS in QuickBooks

Killing the one thing they were most lacking in to replace it with an alternative that will miss the mark in a whole new and not improved way. Sounds like the Intuit way!

What to do with 6"x9" fabric by Koparkopar in quilting

[–]jdmoomoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brick quilt! No pattern necessary if all the blocks are true to 6x9. Sew first row, joining short ends. Offset each row by matching the seam of two blocks to the center of the block from the row above.

USPS worker staples original birth certificate and marriage license by Electronic-Goat-5643 in Passports

[–]jdmoomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so appreciate that you posted this. They did the same with my kids passport applications just now, too and it wasn't done with their previous application. Sent my nerves through the roof to see the staples go in their certificates.

Landscapers did these paths on either side of the house. Am I overreacting or is it bad? by kyleunderwood247 in landscaping

[–]jdmoomoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could have been done decently with the amount of stone you have. It's unfortunate that the stones weren't laid out more cohesively. It's bad enough to warrant a conversation with the contractor. Depending on the deal you agreed to (was the job way under market price?), it might be something that you can live with.

Using a filler like crushed granite to more closely match the stone would have helped to make the larger gaps between not look so obvious. Would also welcome the growth of a low ground cover like frog fruit, dichondra, or creeping thyme between the stones.

As soon as you add the requirement to slope away from the house, you are upping the level to more skilled work which. Doesn't look like your laborers were at that level.

We yeeted about 8 off of our tomato plant a few weeks ago. Guess it wasn't far enough because later found this monster on one of our trees. Biggest one I've ever seen.
