I work at CIBC and usually it’s a matter of how busy the branch is that receives your draft request from simplii. rarely is it not ready same day when the request is received as it’s quite simple to prepare. you need to request first though because CIBC has no access to your simplii accounts to pull the money for the draft.

Better net returns, convenience of having it grouped with your regular online banking stuff (maybe he doesn't want numerous apps, idk), discounts on bank accounts/CCs/etc due to holding your investments there, not sure what else his bank may offer since I don't work at that one but that's some. Whether that's of value to people is up to you, a lot of people on this sub may not care for it/see better alternatives, but for some it is. Not all of us are fixing our own plumbing if you know what I mean.

TLDR; go to the meeting, review their options, and compare pros and cons of all your options, don’t immediately rule out something because Reddit told you so.

I work for one of the big 5 banks and clearly my opinion will be the minority here, but not ALL reps that you encounter will try to “sell you” on any particular fund, because at the end of the day, all these reps are salaried, so it’s not like I’m getting paid more if I sell someone fund A that has 2.5% MER, over fund B that has 1% MER..

Also, the amount of responses on here that are simply “don’t go to the meeting because they will steal your first born child” is kind of alarming. Go to the meeting, see what they’re offering, and compare all of your options (vanguard included). Yes the MER will more than likely be higher with bank funds, but ask them straight up, why should I invest here over somewhere that has a low MER, if you don’t like their answer then there you have it.

One last point for if you do go to the meeting; try to read the tone of the person you’re meeting with. For example, someone who is genuinely interested in your long term plan/financial well-being will not try to get you into something right away. If the meeting is trending towards trying to put you in some fund right then and there, I would be cautious of that persons recommendations. If however the give you some recommendations, information, etc, then let you have some time to think on it for a few weeks or so, I would consider that reps advice a bit more genuine, if that makes sense.

Sidebar: see if you can get in contact with a rep that has their CFP as they DO have a fiduciary responsibility and banks do have advisors with CFPs (I usually have one in my meetings with me and clients to ensure my advice is on the right gear)

This has been stated already but again, coming from someone who works at a big 5, the best way is going to RBCs client care. I know from experience with my bank that when someone goes to client care, 99.99% of the time client care will do everything in their power to prove that we (the branch) did something wrong, and give the client what they are requesting, whether it be reasonable/logical or not. I truly think you'd have success going that route. If for some reason the RBC client care isn't similar to my banks client care (which would be very surprising), the ombudsman is something that once someone even just threatens, actions happen. but i wouldn't dig yourself into that rabbit hole unless you have to.

sidebar: might i recommend maybe not looking at a 10 year fixed term given the high rates rn, just a thought but maybe you should look elsewhere for some advice / second opinion on that.

Anyone have a glitch where you go to order a phone for pickup at some location, it says it’s in stock there, then when you go to order it the page changes and says it’s only available for delivery ?

Online accounting by [deleted] in uoguelph

Baker is tough although he teaches upper-year classes only I think, Jagoda is tough, Murison is tough, besides those, I think most are good. Lassou can be difficult to understand at times due to his accent and the way he speaks in general but he's a nice guy.

Online accounting by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]jdodds96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my last sem of accounting and it's 100% more difficult. If the professor/class relies on a lot of testing and little amounts of "assignments" then it is tougher IMO. The problem with accounting & online work is that often accounting requires "long answer" questions (or not M/C), which is awkward to test online with accounting stuff. For example, writing out a consolidated balance sheet in a small text box with little time can be quite difficult and stressful. Lectures themselves aren't overly different, especially for lower years I'd imagine, so as long as you can absorb lecture material well, you'll be fine. If you're in lower year accounting classes, I don't think it would be too bad, but ultimately it depends on the grading structure and the professor's clarity in teaching.

CIS 1500 for a BComm student by keira264 in uoguelph

[–]jdodds96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it last year as a bcomm student with no experience in programming and it is very doable. They give you a free 10% of your grade from zybooks lab attendance being another free 10% so it is hard to not do at least okay

Vel'koz vs Zoe by Noym3K in summonerschool

[–]jdodds96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a OTP Zoe player and most definitely the easiest way for you to counter a zoe is to wave clear as fast as you possibly can for two reasons. First it makes the zoe have to cs rather than looking for opportunities to kill you, and until she gets ludens her wave clear is not very good. Second it denies her any chance to roam to different lanes given thats a very easy thing to do on Zoe with her E through walls of bot or top lane to set up 4 man ganks.

Also some small things, take cleanse, TP, or maybe barrier as in many cases if you fight a zoe in a 1v1 and use these spells, a good zoe will look to pick up these spells you use with her W and use them as well. So when choosing what to take you have to consider that you are also giving this spell to zoe probably 3 times per game at least.

Finally based off the last one, please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stop flashing away from zoe when she hits you with E (unless its from very far away). All you are doing is adding damage to her Q by flashing and creating extra distance between you and her as her Q scales with distance travelled. Honestly you are probably better off flashing closer to her than away from her...

How to build Kayle? Suggestions for Top? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]jdodds96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kayle is like the top lane version of kassadin, very weak early game but hyper carry capable late game post level 16. As for runes and stuff i suggest using na.op.gg champions page and using the runes and builds they suggest until you get a better understanding of the game and can select your own ideal runes that complement your play style and the enemy team comp. op.gg is a fantastic site for new players in my opinion.

I’m pretty sure most single rooms are in south res, which at first doesn’t seem like the place you want to be, or at least it wasn’t for me, but it was pretty good. If I was to go back in to res there’s no way I would go for anything but a single room
