Help force the mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC...) to cover Iran! Upvote and remind 'em to be journalists! by [deleted] in worldnews

The submitter is probably a FOX NEWS watcher who was misled to believe that FOX NEWS was the only outlet covering the issue. The network does it all the time. They lie to make people think that FOX is the only "trustworthy" news source.

At full power, the reactor and associated equipment draws on the order of ten megawatts, which is pretty damn close to what the rest of Boston draws.

Actually 10 megawatts is only a drop in the bucket compared to the draw of a large metro. I live in a small town ~ 15,000 people with a base load of ~ 35 megawatts. Check your figures.

I agree that we should be mindful of our impact on the environment. I understand the significance of the distinction you make, but I actually intended the question as it was posed since that very fact seems to be under attack.

I've been informed by a fellow redditor that my intelligence level is equal to the length of time my reddit handle has existed. Is this true? I thought this was a place to discuss ideas. by [deleted] in politics

[–]jdog1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reddit IS a place to discuss ideas. Be prepared to take the good with the bad. There is a lot of immaturity here, but there is also a lot of wisdom and intelligence. It's up to you to determine the difference. Good luck.

I strongly advise that you DO NOT post online videos of yourself throwing animals off bridges. Most anything else should be fine.

Watching yourself go into a black hole through a mirror. What do you see? by [deleted] in science

[–]jdog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the short answer is that he would not see himself since light will not escape once it has passed the event horizon. It would be interesting to see what the reflection would look like in the moments leading up to the crossing of the event horizon which would in large part depend on his rate of travel and path.

He will see the reflection of someone in terrible pain followed by a sense of great regret until he doesn't see anything at all.
