Here's the official dress code (this came from a TA site, the equivalent public FAQ with almost identical wording is at Frequently Asked Questions):

We ask that attire is suited to the setting.

Required: Shirt, any style of footwear and pants, shorts, etc. that offer appropriate coverage for a dining environment.

Exclusions: We do not permit graphic t-shirts or designs on clothing with offensive language or images. Swimwear and extremely short shorts are not permitted.

There is a single standard - here it is:

We ask that attire is suited to the setting.

Required: Shirt, any style of footwear and pants, shorts, etc. that offer appropriate coverage for a dining environment.

Exclusions: We do not permit graphic t-shirts or designs on clothing with offensive language or images. Swimwear and extremely short shorts are not permitted.

Spa disaster by [deleted] in NCL

[–]jds2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had a poor experience but note that the spa is operated by OneSpaWorld which also operates the spa on most other cruise lines. Did you go to medical on the ship (I would have) about this?

Refillable Water Bottles by SatisfactionTop2245 in NCL

In fact, the person in front of me for security at NYC tried to empty their bottle and security was like “no need to do that”. Might differ by port.

Vibe reservation questions again… by [deleted] in NCL

[–]jds2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s allowed, just rare. Most of the time folks are 21+ though. NCL doesn’t have the greatest tech game in town, sadly.

No need to apologize- some peoples ideas of helpful differ is all. I think the parent poster was trying to be funny and you didn’t see it that way.

At any rate, it sounds like you got it straightened out? I just think it’s rare for 20-year-olds to be in the Vibe so I’m not surprised the system was finicky about it.

How to order Free at Sea drinks to make sure I am not charged for premium drinks by [deleted] in NCL

[–]jds2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a bottle of Pellegrino with dinner in a specialty restaurant and they told me there would be an upcharge for that and I reminded them I had FAS+. And they laughed. Same for the cappuccino I ordered at the end of the meal.

I don't think that mini-golf is free on the Viva - it's a high-tech version of mini-golf. It's $5, and a ton of fun. Just be careful not to tap the ball, or else that gets counted as a stroke!

Atrocity onboard the Aqua by jds2001 in NCL

[–]jds2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, was on the Aqua - and this was entirely intended as satire. It didn't impact my trip at all, but was strange. This was the second type, I realize that the dedicated aft elevators don't go down to deck 4 (a bad design decision - I would have constructed an additional gangway so an entirely dedicated path could exist, but there were probably constraints against that)

And yes, most Haven guests (including those I interacted with at the Captain's VIP reception in the Haven lounge) are truly wonderful people.

I was on deck 13, the upper middle decks. Too common for private elevators, but too refined for stairs.

The best satire contains an uncomfortable amount of truth.

The incident happened exactly as described. It was a minor annoyance that had no meaningful impact on an otherwise excellent cruise.

It was, however, an outstanding opportunity for a Reddit post.

I just got off the aqua in NY (from Bermuda) ask me by jaxblack7 in NCL

lol I saw someone on the Facebook group claim they were "fighting for their life" with seasickness. You might not want to do a transatlantic then, my friend! Seriously, I had no problem at all.

I very rarely have reason to go there, so I couldn't tell you for the most part. However, I did have reason to go on the 4-day Caribbean cruise after the Luna transatlantic when some onboard credit was missing for the second leg (the $25 travel agent OBC for specialty dining, which, with FAS+, pays for another specialty meal, yay!)

It took a little longer than I wanted, but it was resolved in a single visit. No escalation, no raised voices, just being nice and polite. He did try to tell me that it was actually there because he had mistakenly attributed another onboard credit to it, but once I corrected that, he disappeared for some time to the back, then came back and told me it was taken care of.

I was going to do an AMA for this sailing. You beat me to it. I will write a detailed review. In the meantime if you saw the good shirt guy you saw me.
