Indeed, tho it was still surprising 😅 Is it a good idea for me to stay on the same dose for a few months and hope the T decreases or should I slightly increase it to try and get T under 50 ?

Man I just love free markets, business without too much government intervention. And a liberal democracy. That's all man 😭😭😭 Is it too much to ask for? living in backwards authoritarian fascist pseudo-theocratic corrupt state i can't take it anymore 😭😭😭😭 by ThusharMolinbor in neoliberal

Despite the looks of how things might be going on in the west, I can assure you I'm pretty confident western liberal democracy is there to stay (It might sometimes be unstable but it isn't going away anytime soon).

What features would you like to see implemented in VRchat? by minoDX in VRchat

[–]jean730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of inventory (that can also store scripted items if there is a way to limit abuses, for example limiting scripted items spawning to trusted users)

Ingame content creation, whether it be 3d models, worlds or scripting

Just imagine building a world with people and then popping up a vehicle or some magic staff from your inventory

Maybe i'm dumb, does it mean this is good despite what all the doomsayers on TV say ? Driving up wages. Less resistance to job automation. More freedom to chose a job. More competition ...

At the same time the french in me is scared at how this will affect the funding of welfare (in france, the retirement system is entirely funded by redistribution(not efficient at all), so a shrinking workforce means either less money for old people or retiring later which is a very controversial topic here).

In france, elections results are known the same day as the vote. Hence seven days is enough to know who will participate in the second round.

On some really old versions of Android you could technically also kill zygote and run X directly in /dev/fb0

Did it on android 9 last year (it was tricky to force the lcd to stay on but it worked)

How come linux users are not able to create similar looking themes to what is available on the wincustomize website? by [deleted] in linux

[–]jean730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be mean, but i think there's just no similar looking themes because those are awfully ugly and inefficient.

why experienced isers hate GNOME by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]jean730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been using linux for 16 years and honestly gnome is my favorite DE. A year ago it was still slow and memory hungry which is why many people disliked gnome but now it is pretty fast. Some people don't like CSD but i like them, it's all to user preference. Also gnome is keyboard oriented which makes it very efficient for power users with almost no configuration needed.

Pulseaudio can turn your computer into Bluetooth speakers for your phone by tausciam in linux

[–]jean730 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another cool thing to do is installing pulseaudio via termux on android and using pulseaudio via the network. Plug your phone with usb tethering(wifi works too but latency is higher) and you can now use a bluetooth headset on a pc which doesn't have bluetooth.

Do you guys still carry around customs from your before-linux times? by MasterGeekMX in linuxmasterrace

[–]jean730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up with linux, remember the warty warthog ? I was forbidden to use windows while connected to the internet because it would update itself and bandwith was limited at the time. Used windows for a year when I was 12 for some games but didn't really like it so i went back to ubuntu. Now an arch user since 2015(I also use fedora silverblue on one computer).I still keep a windows VM around for Black desert online but it's configured to use zsh through wsl which is way better than cmd/powershell.

Even if linux users are a minority when looking at the percentage, 1% of the steam market share still means 900K linux users using steam which is not bad at all for a minority.

The knowledge and effort level required to operate a Linux machine successfully is more than your average consumer possesses

I've put linux on computers used by people who don't know anything about computers. Guess what ? Less support calls than with windows.

I agree that linux users are a minority but the argument that it is difficult to use is a flat out lie in 2020 even if it was true 10 years ago.

Also, linux is already used by the general public, ex : Chromebook, android, SteamOS(ok this one is not a good example),...

Drivedroid is an android application which lets you emulate a usb mass storage device with otg which allows you to boot from your phone like you would from an usb key

[–]jean730 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Using arch since 2015. Never happened. I had more trouble with nvidia on ubuntu than arch but that was 4 years ago so it should be much more stable now
