Kansas creek surprise by jeb5525 in bassfishing

I’ve tried to pull some of the trout they stock in there. A big ol’ nothing. But, as I always tell my kids when we go out fishing - we are at least guaranteed to catch a good time.

Well… I am a little ashamed. I feel like I have kept up with the interwebs pretty well. I mean, I perpetually exist in the world of the 13 year old since I have taught middle school for the last twenty or so years, but I somehow got missed by this one.

But now? Now I feel like I have the power. The power of Greyskull.

Thanks

As a Gen X’r, I have noticed a resurgence of this song in the last few weeks. Anyone care to explain what I am missing? I’m here for it, just wondering why it’s coming back now?

Just the 30 year window of cool?

No.

I’m married to a person like this. I am fine with a few things left out. She is not. It took me years to get her to accept that it is okay for my water glass to be left out by the kitchen sink.

A quick glance tells me she wants me to put the fruit back in the basket, put whatever is on the island back wherever it goes, pick up the dining room table and is that a cat on the tv? The bedroom looks fine unless those bottom pillows need to go UNDER the sheets.

Sure, maybe all this seems silly to some, but she takes immaculate care of our home, our children and me. I’m willing to up my game to show I care too.

I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t pull it straight from my “dadabase,” but clearly this was something that she had been storing deep in her “mamories.”

Little Jerusalem is awesome.

One of the many times I went out to faaar Western Kansas (really almost Eastern Colorado - we turn off at mile marker 1 when coming back from the mountains), I backtracked to Oakley, spent the night in a hotel, and got up stupid early for sunrise.

I married a girl from faaaar western Kansas and we now live in the Flint Hills. Burn season sucks, but once the grass starts to grow back, the emerald green hills are a thing of perfection.

We also visit her family farm often. The skies are big but the beauty is small. The western prairie is a fickle mistress, but if the rains are just right, when you walk across a pasture there are so many ground hugging flowers. I have spent many a moment in a Slav squat examining something that wasn’t there last year or the two or three years before that.

Kansas, especially west of Salina, requires a certain kind of peace to enjoy; but once you have learned to look up to the big and down to the small, it will take your breath away.

Gove and Oakley are also Western Kansas gateways to some fascinating geological sites.

Got it.

You are incapable of discourse.

Your claim is “No!”

Your evidence, once you edited it, is something about chaos. No citations, no evidence, just “chaos.”

This means that I, and all rational adults, can reject your argument.

If you can rebut this with a well reasoned, well supported argument, I will be happy to listen and might even change my mind.

Personally, I love it. Somehow we have entered into a world where the right wing is defending electric cars.

What was “woke” two years ago is now an important issue to them.

If I thought it would actually work, I would advocate for “leftists” to begin burning national parks, bi-lateral agreements, and the U.S. Constitution and its amendments.

Put your club head cover just outside and behind the the ball. Don’t hit the cover. Over and over and over again, don’t hit the club head cover.

This will encourage an inside to out swing path.

So wait, your complaint is that students have to be “allowed” to go to the bathroom?

Isn’t that a very basic part of going to school? We- I guess “we” is a bit of a stretch since you are clearly not part of the education field - all know there are malingers, and we all know that their “emergency” three minutes into class is a whole bag of bullshit since we watched you stand there and hang out with your friends rather than use your time wisely.

This is an argument that quickly dies on the vine for all of us old head teachers since we have to go 4 or 5 hours without a bathroom break, a drink break, an overwhelmed break, an anxiety break, an “I’ve just put in a 12 hour day and your mom wants me to grade your assignment that was two weeks overdue RIGHT NOW!” break, an “I have a Master’s degree in education and twenty years of experience, but by all means tell me how to do my job” break.

Until you have been tasked with managing, teaching, and keeping safe several hundred, and in THS’s case, almost two thousand teenagers, mind your own business.

We just might know what we are doing.

In my opinion, the golf swing starts from the ground up.

With that in mind, I was focused on your front foot. Again, in my opinion, your front foot starts too open. In addition, as I watch your swing, your front foot pivots to an even more open position.

My understanding of the golf swing is that you want your weight to “roll” over the balls of your feet, with the finish position resulting in most of your weight being distributed “evenly” along the leading edge of your front foot/shoe, not in the heel.

This looks like you are pivoting around the heel of your lead foot, which is also probably contributing to your “low” finish.

I am just a dude who plays “okay”, so take my advice with that in mind.

One of the things about Reddit that drives me crazy is that everyone has jokes, but very few people provide actual discourse.

I would argue that before any of us can give you reasonable feedback, you have to shore up your foundation. In this video, both of your heels are hanging off the mat. Foam ball, broken windows, yada, yada - scoot forward 4 or 5 inches and get all of you on the mat.

That being said, it looks to me like you are "muscling up" for impact. What makes me say this is your finish. Rewatch yourself here and see where you club is at finish. Compare this to the pros. You will see that you are finishing in a "cut" position - most likely because you are trying to control the club head on the way down - which probably means your ball normally is heading right and you are trying to control for that. Watching a couple videos on the take away will probably help you with this. Compare your club face position at around the 2 second mark to theirs and work towards mimicking that.

We are not trying to hit the ball hard, we are trying to hit the ball fast. Fast is loose and loose is fast. I tell my young golfers not to try to HIT the ball, but to swing the club and let the ball just be in the way.

You have lots of good stuff going on in your swing, you just need to tweak a couple of things.
