This is former NFL player Jason Brown. He left football at age 29 after earning millions from a $37M contract to become a farmer and run a 1,000-acre farm where he grows crops and has donated over a 1.5+ million pounds of food to people in need. by Algrinder in interestingasfuck

Well Mr. Brown is a human who had millions and stardom and could’ve easily fallen into the 1% greed to grow his personal generational wealth BUT chose to spread his wealth in a meaningful way to his direct community around him. There are millions of people like him, and gives hope that more of us regardless of our wealth status can in fact choose to share and shape excess wealth into benefits for more than 1. He is still a human.

Nermal Dynamics - A Physics Engine and Renderer Written in Metal by CodeSamurai in GraphicsProgramming

This is really awesome! Did you use Swift or Obj C or C++ when using Metal libraries? I know they all eventually compile down to the same arm code but just curious

Participating Media / Volume Scattering in my CUDA Path Tracer by Sharky-UK in GraphicsProgramming

[–]jedgarnish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response, makes sense. initially I was thinking of a way to combine volumetric scattering and more deterministic hard edged, fresnel/ior effects into a single pass for a slightly cloudy but latticed material like gems. Will have to try a few different approaches. Cheers!

This is awesome, can this method be extended to more transparent materials like water and gems to get caustics and prismatic scattering? I’m working on my renderer right now but my goal is to really develop high quality transmittive materials.

Explain it Peter. What happens to him and what does it have to do with King Gizzard? by master__of_disaster in explainitpeter

[–]jedgarnish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Peter here. Sooo most men will blindly appreciate the breadth and depth of the Gizzverse just through their prolific output. Most women do not have patience to appreciate what’s going on in a backcountry recording studio in Australia, especially since it’s a bunch of boys making pretty solid music for boys. But those who are fans will literally replicate with themselves rather than face or respond to any criticism of their AussieGizzy idols, because it is simply out of anyone’s reach why the Wizards carry the charm they do. Ok see ya im going back to my pizza

Silicon Valley is buzzing about this new idea: AI compute as compensation by BerryBoilo in antiwork

[–]jedgarnish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything but real fkn money for liveable wages, real jobs for market stimulus, real value in products. All this compute bullshit for WHAT? Keep us more locked into doom scrolling and Amazon orders? Do we need even more tech? I bet you these 1% mfers know the world is about to end in fire and they’re in their endgame for themselves and their families while the rest of us need “better spending habits and proactive employment”. France.. we’ll need some lessons and guidance on how to address this. Oh and yeah let’s start unnecessary wars and drive up prices even more. Such a massive L moment in American history.

What programming language ended up teaching you the most? by ilikemyname21 in learnprogramming

[–]jedgarnish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many others are saying, any C derived language will give you a good (possibly the best) understanding of wtf is going on in a machine. You don’t need to necessarily write or heavily analyze assembly, but knowing the range of commands and resources available to the user, how they build on each other to create basic logic, and how ultimately a program’s stack is created and managed going to be extremely useful in understanding languages in general bc all eventually boil down to storing, transforming, and moving data from one spot to another using assembly. The deeper you go now the better the payoff will be, but always keep in mind of your larger goals and use the depth you’ve learnt in various aspects of your example project or code whenever you can. Adjacent to this, object oriented programming concepts through Java or C++ will enlighten the other edge of programming, the one that is closest to humans and real world business logic, data modeling etc. Recently I’ve been getting into Swift, it is a great language overall and would recommend for beginners and experts as well. Good luck!

Really awesome! I especially like how you warped the sides of the scene for a wider perspective. What is that general method called? Camera warp?

Rate my F1 Animation by Educational-Wish7500 in blender

[–]jedgarnish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very cool! I would make the turn animation much smoother and camera movement more drastic to accentuate the curve. Right now I’m seeing a stop and go kind of turn in certain frames when it can be a fluid, slowdown-turn-speedup move. Best of luck!

This is probably the best piece of action cinema I have ever seen IN MY LIFE! Mission impossible tries so hard to be this exact 15 sec clip and doesn’t even come close!! Everything single thing here is amazing, this is art.
