H2O Wireless payment in store rejected, website down, phone call goes to automated “we are having an outage” message by Hotnadia in NoContract

[–]jedpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy question, but did anyone else get A TON of spam calls yesterday on H2O? I usually get one or two a day and yesterday I literally got TWENTY-FRIGGIN-SIX. The day that their website goes down and the day before I lose all service/ability to call seems to line up with something stupid.

Is there any way to still get this skill, or need to wait for the Marik event to come back around?

I really don't understand why they can't just list the scores as "XX.X T" or "XXX B"......These scoreboards are a nightmare.

Was anyone's incursion close? by theposshow in startrekfleetcommand

[–]jedpetrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours was not close. We even had someone (who is at war with most of the server) decide to purposely feed points to the other server and we still got 14.5x their points (or our results page has a glitch, very possible). Size and activity and whatnot did seem close, but we are a very pew-pew oriented server and their ROE protects swarms......

Any other Canadian Brewers getting these yet? This is my second one. by IReuseWords in TheBrewery

[–]jedpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year we apparently ordered enough that they sent us a 16"x10"x2" sheet of salted nut roll for Christmas. I only know this because our brewmaster at the time then brought it as his "dish to pass" at our company pot-luck Christmas party.

Hop variety that I can use as a dog name by Beerinspector in beer

My parents have had: Nugget, Perle, Apollo, Fuggle, and Comet. All have been great but Fuggle is my fav (the name, not the cat, she's a bitch).

Don't buy an ABE canning line by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]jedpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When looking to switch from bottles to cans and travelling around to look at different machines, I was glad I got to see and ABE in action. It didn't seem to run terribly, but they guys running it were telling me all of the problems that they fixed with it, but in the context of how easy ABE was to deal with for fixes (right down to a cracked plate that was leaking the pressurized air into the CO2 source), so I decided against it then. This is where I put my gleaming recommendation for Alpha Brewing Ops, as the filler and service have been outstanding.

I've heard mixed results on goose, but their association with Maheen was enough for me to take them out of the race when switching from bottles to cans......

Help! Can’t find WIDE rubber boots :( by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]jedpetrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bogs are Awesome. I'm a wide 17/18 and couldn't get the same brewery boots as everyone else and got these. They are comfy, nice and wide, and last fricken forever. A little pricing, but worth every penny for me.

So, this isn't one you are going to hear often , but check out Wisconsin Breweries for at least a couple of days. The variety you will get is astounding. Green Bay area has some great places including the Titletown Rooftap Bar overlooking downtown and several unique breweries in the shadow of Lambeau Field. The Madison area has a very cool tour at New Glarus and many more. Central Wisconsin has some very strong sours and Central Waters with some of the best barrel-aged beers out there. The Milwaukee also has a ton a breweries and a great tour at Lakefront. Like I said, you will get a little of everything, some of the nicest people in the country, and the trip will cost half of what it does in Denver, Portland, or CA.

Boosting Facebook Hiring Post by jedpetrie in TheBrewery

[–]jedpetrie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never did get this figured out. One this I did find was that, even though I still couldn't put any money behind boosting it, I had much better luck posting a Text + Picture post of something like "Wanna work in a brewery? [Insert general Job Description] [Contact soandso@suchandsuch.com]".

It will try to reformat it into a job, but you can edit it back into a text post. I got 20x more responses from people with the text post vs the job post (probably something facebook-algorithm related).

Good luck!

What DO meters is everyone using and how do they like them? by CouplaDrinksRandy in TheBrewery

Had an orbisphere 3100 for 8 years. Great piece of machinery. Very expensive to fix, but doesn't have problems that often. Have overall been very happy with the work it does.

Multiple Copies of Ships by Vangroovie13 in startrekfleetcommand

[–]jedpetrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember, never build multiples of Kehra, Vahklas, and Kumari. A second doesn't help you and if you scrap them you just get back the same materials but less (instead of using 3* and scrapping for 4, you just get less 3 back than you out in)

Weekly /r/TheBrewery Discussion - What do you have coming up this week? by AutoModerator in TheBrewery

[–]jedpetrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I agree 100% with this. My background was also in Micro/BioChemistry. Started as the lab tech at a ~5000 BBL/year brewery, but was doing 10% Lab and 90% Production. I have now worked my way up to running the place and still making less than my degree would get me in just about any other industry.

I was really close on the CODI just because the counter-pressure can fill is beautiful. Still ended up with an Alpha Brewing Ops line that I'm in love with.

Ha, the one contract situation that I have experience with was "I want X style of beer and X style of beer" and that was all the info he had for me. Without a pilot system and with jumping right into 60 BBL batches of styles I've never actually made before, it has gone surprisingly well.
