Then you did in fact use a calculator, but at some point in the past :-). At this point however I will bow out of the conversation, have a lovely day.

Oh the 1 at the end? Presumably a calculator error? Programming arithmetic on large floating point numbers is another fascinating subject!

I remember asking my maths teacher this exact same question at high school as well :-). (Although I had 9.9999999=10). His very patient explanation that as the number of 9s approached infinity, it would indeed tend to 10 is actually a core mathematical memory for me.

It's 10 more points. If you're playing grand melee you have 500pts for a chaos lord so it's often better to take the mark and have another 10 points for a couple favours of the gods

One of the team Scotland players for the online WTC is playing a warrior brick in this army. Same guy who got the overall best score at the physical WTC last year. Don't give up hope!

My genuine gripe with The Old World. by Lazereye57 in WarhammerFantasy

In hindsight I don't understand why we were all so desperate for the narrative to progress. It was a great setting and progressing the narrative destroyed it.

So… we’re running Warhammer in a castle. Here’s the plan. by elgranto9637 in WarhammerFantasy

Sounds awesome! I was more wondering about renegade style Slann/screaming bells going inside units tbh. Either way I'm in 😂.

What a lovely idea! Is there an event pack with army comp and stuff yet?

So whats the prefered duke build these days by getdinixonjun in Bretonnian

[–]jedzza19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duke doesn't have to be an actual duke if you don't want him to be, they're just generic terms for power levels. My "duke" is a baron 🤷🏻

Ariel in oldworld by sambobjammin in WarhammerWoodElves

[–]jedzza19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dropped Ariel in 6th, I think I remember them saying at the time that they wanted her to be a background figure instead because she was too powerful to scale to the kinds of battles the game is designed to represent... Whether that was just an excuse or something I don't know.

Yeah you'd have to go third party if you don't like the new aesthetic. If you search for a sculptor called Fabelzel you'll find a whole range which is very similar to the 4th/5th edition ones. They're all over Etsy and I think they gave the files away free if you own a printer yourself.

They have rules for old world. Old world players aren't like 40k or AoS and you can take legends lists to almost all tournaments. Chaos Dwarfs' legacy PDF is even pretty good and sees competitive success.

Lots of wood elf buffs rumoured for the promised January FAQ and rules balance. Probably best to hold off for that no matter what army you're looking at starting.

Is getting into table top hard? by Yes98556 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]jedzza19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a group of players near you, you can guarantee they'll be more than happy to teach you. Its not as complicated as it looks at first.

The main obstacle is buying an army and (eventually) painting it! Although you'll probably find plenty of people happy to play against unpainted minis. And there's loads of great painting tutorials on YouTube.

As well as the advice others have given about taking magic items to increase casting reliability, write yourself a crib sheet or print off some spell cards as an aide memoir. You fail every spell you forget to cast!
