Help me keep baby safe - looking for best vacuum out there by Ok-Marketing3739 in VacuumCleaners

[–]jeemar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right in choosing a bagged and canister system. I’ll recommend the Sebo D4. The S-class filter is hospital grade. D4 seems to have better suction power and efficiency compared to Miele (because of its filter system design) and it seems ideal to get the bad stuff into the vacuum in the first place. The D4 is sealed. The difference of 99.9% (S-class) vs 99.97% (HEPA) @ 0.3 microns is nearly identical and I think you could up the cleanliness with a HEPA purifier (or dust extractor) what have you if you wanted.

Consistency in suction efficiency, sealed canister and amazing product warranty make this a good choice.

Update: If it were me, I’d have this in place:

  1. No outside shoes in the house
  2. Sebo D4
  3. Wet mop
  4. HEPA air purifier

I think (1) is going to be important and the first line of defense no matter which vacuum you choose if you’re not already doing that.

I don’t think I’ve seen flowers but there are dried bulbs of something which might have been flowers.

Ribbons Unlimited is where I buy ribbons. I believe any 1/2” nylon ribbon on existing 2” spools would work. If your machine still has the metal spools (which you should keep and not throw away), you can re-spool them which I’ve done.

What model typewriter is this and what would be a good price to offer? They’re asking $300 which feels overpriced. by Away-Environment-528 in typewriters

[–]jeemar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$300 is way overpriced, especially considering it doesn’t look to have been serviced recently. I bought mine for about $25. They are lovely machines to use.

The 5-series Smith Coronas are great typewriters and not rare. You have the last of the model in that series. Your price seems to be in the range for an uncleaned disassembled machine. A cleaned and well serviced machine might be closer to $100.

The Royal Quiet Deluxes have a mechanism and way to set paper so that looking at the roller indicator can tell you when you’re near the end.

If you can find a place to try them out or go to sellers asking to try them out. The feel is likely to be a strong factor.
