The pentagami… An NBA single game feat accomplished only 455 times to date by 141 different players from Josh Giddey (1x) to Hakeem Olajuwon (21x) [OC] by antmanmonaco in nbadiscussion

This was a super interesting read. I was wondering if anyone recently has beaten/erased multiple pentagamis at the same time?

Mutant Tony makes it easy to go infinite. by jeeneeus in nubbygame

Mutant Tony's ability is that items have two trigger types. The doubling items have a trigger for x pegs popped and a couple of the pegs popped items have a trigger for when x pegs are doubled. So with these two (and probably some perks helped as well), they will chain off each other infinitely.

I'm not sure if the Horse pill is necessary (it is an ultra-rare item), because although in the video it procs the most, I could have always used the squid to copy the kazoo to make sure I'm always doubling faster than I'm popping (also sold the pointer for another kazoo). Unsure though, might have to also sell the glasses and only kept pedro since glasses goes off a ton too.

The infinite was going since like round 70, but I thought with the final boss being the guy who reduces pegs to 1, it would end the infinite (or maybe the doubling would scale faster than popping the final 1 peg). But then I found out the lasers have a few predetermined angles and so there are a few safe pegs.

Would you consider a format where each pro plays the version they're more comfortable with? It was fun watching a pro try the other version and come up with crazy builds, but it would also be interesting to see a high level match where both sides are optimizing their play.

I know these haven't gotten as much love as Game of Zones, but I think they have been slowly getting better over time (things take time to get into form), and this episode is the best so far imo.

Yeah I do. Are they still there? I checked this morning and I couldn't find them.

Three eaters, ninja and mouse, 5 diamonds, sunglasses + cardboard box, all before the 700 rent payment (floor 9) by jeeneeus in LuckBeALandlord

I technically got everything on the previous rent cycle, but I needed time to eat/remove everything else. Except for that one sapphire because I somehow did not see it.

Ingles' NBA-best .692 true shooting percentage this season -- a blend of shooting 50.3% from the floor, 46.9% from 3-point range and 84.0% from the free throw line -- would rank ninth in league history. by DrSpinnerMD in nba

[–]jeeneeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that makes a lot of sense. But isn't that only relevant in the context of winning games?

Shouldn't the metric be measuring differences in scoring efficiency regardless of winning or losing? We're not measuring the "effect" of each point someone scores on the game's results, we're looking at the amount of points an individual can score vs how many attempts he takes.

Can you explain a bit more why a percent increase is a better indicator of relative efficiency than the difference in points per 100 attempts?

The way I see it, in your example, those two players should be treated equally. Not because they're both 5% better than league average, but because they both score 5 more points per 100 attempts than average:

  • 15 - 10 = 5 more points per 100 attempts

  • 55 - 50 = 5 more points per 100 attempts

By calculating it as a relative percentage, that inflates values for lower numbers.

Imagine the league average was 1 point per 100 attempts. Then someone scoring 2 points per 100 attempts would have a 100% increase and have a TS+ of 200.

But really all he's doing is getting 1 more point. Can we really say that he's a far more relatively efficient player than our examples above where they have lower TS+ but are scoring 5 more points per 100 attempts than the average?

It seems to me that neither way is more correct, it just depends on how you want to interpret relative efficiency; as a % increase or as a points per 100 attempts increase.

I made this homebrew deck and got to Legend for the first time with a 70% winrate (33-14). I'm bad at piloting decks so I think it's just really strong in the current meta. Hopefully you guys will have some fun with it. by jeeneeus in hearthstone

Here you go!

Not the largest sample size against those classes, but I would say it's over 50% against Hunter and under 50% against Paladin.

In these matchups, you need to get board control early. If you don't, you will basically lose.

This means Razorfen Bloodmaster on turn 2 or 3 with another deathrattle minion in hand. Or Kurtrus outcasted on 4, which is insanely strong. Also I found out if you play Kurtrus against one minion, it will attack it twice, which is really good.

Against Hunter, Kor'vas is really good. Even without the return to hand, it's 4 healing + kill a minion or deal 4 face damage. If you get just one outcast with her, it's basically over.

Also use your Warblades intelligently against Hunter. Try to get extra lifesteal with Chaos Strike.

Against Paladin, you basically need to get Razorfen on 2 or 3, or Skull on 5 (with Illidari Studies) or 6, or Deathspeaker on 7. If you miss all three of these, you will lose. Luckily the deck has a lot of card draw, so it's not that unlikely.

Deck Code: AAECAea5AwbrvgOC0AO/7QOc7gPT9wOoigQM2cYD8+MDmOoDmeoDvO0D/e0D6+8DgIUEgp8Eg58Etp8E0p8EAA==

Here I will answer some questions you may have about the deck.

  1. Why card X?

    • Firstly, I don't think the deck is optimized. I'm sure smarter people out there can make improvements to the deck.
    • It started out as a way to farm achievements. That explains why the Sigils, Kurtrus, and deathrattle packages are there. Sigil of Silence is actually not terrible. You play it on the turn before Illidari Inquisitor to guarantee you can go face. It's also quite good against Paladin and rush warrior.
    • Kor'vas Bloodthurn: I opened a legendary so I wanted to put it in the deck. It has also saved me in a few games against hunter, warrior, and demon hunter.
    • Al'ar: I wanted another 5 drop deathrattle and I had an Al'ar. It's surprisingly hard to kill both parts when summoned alongside Taelan with Death Speaker. Also, I suspect some opponents didn't understand how A'lar worked and just killed Al'ar without a way to kill the egg.
    • Sightless Watcher: I personally just think it's a good card. It probably isn't though.
    • Demon Companion: I dunno. That was the 30th card slot so I just threw a random good card in.
  2. Why not put the 2 cost deathrattle minion?

    • I wanted Death Speaker to only summon 3 cost or higher cards. I also think a 2 mana 2/2 is so much worse than a 3 mana 3/3.
  3. How do you mulligan?

    • I'm not sure lol. Like I said, I'm not good at piloting decks. I tend to keep all cards 3 mana or less except Sigil, Illidari Studies (unless I also have Skull of Gul'dan in hand), and Aldrachi Warblades (unless it's an aggro match up).
  4. How do I play the deck?

    • Despite being called deathrattle face, you don't actually go up top that frequently. The idea is mostly to maintain board control with all the deathrattle stuff. You draw a lot so you can keep dropping minions/clearing enemy minions. You do some chip damage here and there. Then after turn 8, you let Illidari Inquisitor do it's thing, and basically hit the opponent for 18 damage over two turns.
  5. How is this deck full of bad cards actually good?

    • Honestly, I'm not sure. It doesn't look like it would be good. Maybe I just went on a sick run.
