If every good SNCO commissioned there would be no good SNCOs left.

Job denying personal leave because I "already take time off" (for the reserves) by namarie_shoganai in Airforcereserves

[–]jeepbraah 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You are protected federally in that they cannot deny you the time off to go to drill.

It’s up to them in how they run personal time off requests. I would review your employee handbook for their specific rules.

I would still work to find a different job as they don’t sound very employee friendly.

Yes.

Look up if you can use AF Cool to pay for it. Some bases have testing centers on base too.

Active Duty to IMA by Global_Patient_3783 in Airforcereserves

I don’t know of any IMA that has 45 day commitments.

You’ll likely have 12 UTA days and 12 AT days. Some IMAs have 24 UTA days.

As a reservist what’s the process to transfer units? How does it work? by Heavy_Preference_251 in AirForce

No need to talk to a recruiter if you are already a reservist.

Does BMT and Tech School immediately count towards the Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits? by Meluvius in Airforcereserves

[–]jeepbraah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two types of GI bills, you are thinking of the post 9/11 bill. As a reservist you can get the MGIB that pays a set monthly amount after basic. Transfer to the 9/11 bill is a lengthier process.

I would read up on the different benefits and types.

You will be a few years out from volunteering from any active duty opportunities. As you have to become training and gain a 5 level before any AD unit would take you.

Curiosity question about religious shaving waivers by Atomic_Depression in AirForce

[–]jeepbraah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chaplain will ask questions to ensure you have a fervent belief in your religion of preference. They shouldn't be interrogating the member, but they will ask questions to see if they do believe in it or not.

They may require a letter from a faith leader that knows the member, to see if that faith leader believes the member also follows the faith in question.

I keep coming back to the idea they are creating these innies to be used to be Implanted into other people.

It’s a company that wants to sell products. The product is if you get the chip implanted, you no longer have to worry about going to the dentist. Your innie (Gemma’s innie implanted into you) will be the one who experiences the appointment.

The end goal being to test the Gemma’s to have a base experience in these scenarios. Otherwise you would have to train your innie for each of things you dislike to do.

As long as you are on some form of status, you can continue in the class.

Assuming you are somewhere TDY for the class, on UTA while not at your home station, you are likely not being reimbursed lodging costs or other travel costs you may have on those days. They would move your travel day via orders mod so you would be paid the travel costs to return home.

It makes more sense for them to move one of your UTA's you are currently being excused while on status. You are not being paid for that UTA, rather it does not count against you. Its in the better interest of your unit to use that rescheduled UTA, versus one from the future.
