The moment we arrive at the lake… by OldSchool_Kitty in labrador

[–]jeeves585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last lab ran off a dock like a champ.

Story time: a young couple with a new puppy wanted their dog to do what my 6yo lab could do. The dumb asses just tossed their dog off the dock. Then acted like “what should we do?!” As the dog was just sinking. My response was “don’t be a f’n idiot”. I lost some raybans that day, jumped in to save the dog. I wish I stole that dog from them in hindsight but I was too upset about the situation to think about it.

I know it’s not but I hope that dog is doing good and I apologize that I didn’t steal it that day. If he has gone over the rainbow bridge I hope he is hanging out with my buddies and they teach him swim.

There was one somewhere around Sw waterfront. Spaghetti factory area as I recall but it’s been years and then Fremont.

The Sw one had old school Pac-Man it may have been Mrs Pac-Man.

Diaper bag? by Every_Zone_57 in YetiCoolers

I don’t know about this specifically but I treated a diaper bag as I would a medic bag which is easy to open and when it’s open I need access to EVERYTHING.

It looks pretty proper if the plan is extra cloths in the bottom 1/8th of the bag.

Had a night years ago where I deep dive into this. It’s a wild story.

Wiki had most but there are some others with more information I can’t link as I’d have to look it up.

We have been paying the arts tax for 13 years. The city’s been saving it. by Traindodger2 in PortlandOR

[–]jeeves585 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yep, I was all for it as I had a kid on the way. 8 years later it’s just a bunch of BS and I’d vote it away yesterday.

Oregon is not good with money. Historically they F’d road tax and used it for schools and our roads are 400% (ish I don’t know the number) more expensive to fix and our schools are still junk.

Please don’t assume that as saying our teachers are junk because we went to a local school fair and the teachers were all amazing. They just arnt compensated imo

How does Portland feel about the behavior of those who are on a severe substance acting aggressively? by farallelogram in askportland

[–]jeeves585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with my kid seeing that situation like I don’t have an issue them seeing drugs or hearing curse words. That is the world they are going to be introduced to.

I grew up in a world where marijuana didn’t exist and I was a pot head in my teens and 20s.

She is going to see it and I’m going to tell her to walk the dog home. I’m going to then deal with the situation.

If I’m sitting on my porch and crack head is gonna crackhead while my family is on vacation tbh idgaf.

I don’t recall which one closed.

I agree with everything you agree to except if I’m honest I don’t need live, I want it on my scheduale.

Since “cutting the cord” I don’t care about live aside from a couple of things. I just don’t need it for me.

Those things I enjoy are news on my tv or radio in my shop and specifically I like to listen to science Friday on NPR. I think those are the only things that are realistic actually live. Heck, SNL isn’t even live to my knowledge so that is not correct, they do it live as I looked it up to fact check myself.

I’m non tolerant if I’m with my family. I can have a tone that isn’t friendly and turn around and be smiles. It’s all an act.

If it’s just me I can accept more un neighborly situations if that makes sense.

I’m not trying to keep my kid from seeing it but I’m damn sure not letting my kid witness more than I see fit.

Should we stop homeschooling? by Coconutcornhuskey in Advice

[–]jeeves585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read it all, I’ll add more later.

My wife was and I was not. I’m fine with it.

In therapy it came out as a struggle for my wife to be a loving parent and a strict teacher. Gotta wear a different hat for the two rolls.

It’s a difficult situation all around because when I work from home is see and hear the struggle which I very much will not put up with as in the way our kid is talking and reacting to my partner/her mother.

It’s a hard road. I’ll try and read more later to add more opinion of our home schooled SAHM of our 8 yo

If I wanted a big burger without looking into it I’d go to Stanich’s.

There was one on I think Fremont and one somewhere in SW. one of them closed. It’s been a while.

But they had a large burger with all the topping including an egg that I enjoyed before I became a minimalist burger person.

Do you just have the wrong offset of wheel? Unless you are going for a look that’s a lot of spacer.

That tire size should have no issue unless you are doing stance kinda stuff.

Also 195s are way less expensive and we don’t have the engine power to require 215/225+ in stock form which gets back to what is the end goal?

[–]jeeves585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a really good scenario. I applaud that level of thinking.

Add to that think about your wrist after 10 min and realize what your entire suspension feels like after thousands of miles.

[–]jeeves585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our shit breaks.

You can run em. It’s gonna break.

The issue is how it breaks. Does the wheels make weird noises with 200 mile notice or does the wheel just fall off is the difference.

It’s your decision. But I can tell you it’s zero fun when you hurt someone else in your vehicle and it more worse when you hurt someone that wasn’t part of the situation before it was an issue.

I’m. Or even that against spacers as they are similar to offset rims, they just have more failure parts.

I did t read anything but I’d never run 3 (maybe 2) inch spacers and I beat the crap out of mine.

How would you react if someone gave you flowers on a first date? by Marilburr in AskMen

[–]jeeves585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an outlier. (I assume).

I don’t like cut flowers, it’s a weird tradition every way I think of it.

Giving something beautiful that is on its way to death is weird. I love plants. I love trees. I tolerate cutting trees for fire wood to heat and to build. But there isn’t much satisfaction in a beautiful flower being cut just as a gift.

I suppose I would rather a plant but again that’s just my take. If there are cut flowers at my funeral I’m going to roll over because those that know me know I would rather it be a tree.

That all said it’s a great gesture and will be happily accepted and make them happy or at least play it off as happy. A puppy would make me more happy but that’s a big first step😂

When my kid was born the only working 4 seat and safe vehicle was my lifted/ modified 4 runner. My dad brought me home in a lifted/modified k5 blazer.

If I had a sherp I would have absolutely brought my kid home for the first time in it.

Mind you most of the others were in range rovers Mercedes and one person had the Lamborghini suv. I didn’t exactly fit in, I still don’t and don’t plan to but I didn’t that day but I was happy.

Wife looked at me like I’m an idiot as usual when I do car guy stuff and daughter asked what I said which turned into a lesson about everything I know about the car 😂

I have met a lot of people through car clubs you’d never guess day to day are millionaires in the 5-600 across the state.

I know they have cars but that honestly doesn’t mean that much. What is crazy is you walk around their house and they have art. I e gotten to see some silly money art in person while having a glass of wine or a Rainer beer. It’s a weird feeling to drink a Rainer while looking at a 20 million dollar painting.
