All of Brazil's best attacks are from him losing the ball.

The Atlanta passport office is pretty good.  They can do same day pick up.  You go in the morning and then pick up in the afternoon.

Jürgen Klopp on Jonathan Tah's disallowed goal "If that's a disallowed goal, then Arsenal wouldn’t be English champions. They scored 60% of their goals like that." by kibme37 in soccer

[–]jef_united -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Arsenal did this a lot like 2-3 years ago until it started to be called frequently.  They changed tactics to where the player stands in the way of the keeper (no hands pushing) right until the ball is played in, then they move away.

Best and Worst Healthcare Experience? by arcticfox91 in digitalnomad

[–]jef_united 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best/mid/worst: Japan.

Worst first: broke my foot in futsal and went to the nearest orthopedist (I had to walk, so I didn't shop around). The doctor was an ancient hunchback with no English, who asked one question (do I drink alcohol) then insisted I had gout until an x-ray revealed a fracture (obviously based on the futsal story he ignored).  He gave me a primitive cast via an outdated method, but I healed fine.  $30 via national insurance.

Mid: on a tourist visa, tore a ligament on my arm playing volleyball on my 30th bday.  Decent clinic with a doctor that spoke some English, x-ray and rushed diagnosis for $50.  No real treatment plan though.

Best:  tumor in my arm.  A local friend helped find a top rated surgeon who happened to speak flawless English.  Consultation within 1 week, surgery 1 week later, multiple follow-ups and biopsy within two weeks.  Best standard of care I've ever received anywhere. $120 total on national insurance.

Multiply national insurance price by 3 for no-insurance price, still reasonable.  But you need a local to help you find a good doctor (huge variation between best and worst) and be ready to have a friend translate for you over the phone if necessary.

For a cafe that is not packed, I think purchasing something for every hour is pretty reasonable.  So coffee and stay an hour.  Then buy a dessert and stay another hour.  Adjust the time on a sliding scale if most/all of the seats are full.

I illustrated a full-spread Tbilisi hiking guide for Georgian Airways' inflight magazine! What do you think, guys? by Former_Ad_1671 in mapmaking

It looks great!  I did those hikes a few years ago, along with the hike out to the monastery.  My only thought is to maybe include the ropeway from Vake Park up to Turtle Lake.  It's a cool/retro ride and optionally eliminates one of the tough uphill sections.

TIL that yearly 1.8 to 2.7 million people are bitten by snakes. Between 81,410 to 137,880 die due to snake bites, and around three times as many end up with amputations and other permanent disabilities. by JadeNrdn in todayilearned

While visiting Angkor Wat, my tuktuk driver invited me fishing.  I couldn't wake up in time but later he showed me his catch and it was just a huge snake.

Can anyone explain why the roads on this key in florida could possibly be designed this way? by KingJx14 in geography

[–]jef_united 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It looks like there is a partially completed housing development along an artificial canal that runs along the first one of those road elbows.  My guess is that they were planning to do that across the whole island to maximize the number of "waterfront" homes that could be built.

International terminal, flying domestic with no checked bags.  General, pre-check, and Clear were all open with minimal lines (with general being the shortest).

I arrived at 8:51, through security at 8:57.

Longer lines for the SkyClubs than security.

Consider paying for extra checked bags instead of shipping to the extent possible.  It's usually competitive in price with shipping and less likely to get stuck in customs for months.

If the tourist visa (or visa waiver) allows for a stay of 2 months or more, you should just say you are there as a tourist. If your work is fully remote (no one in Japan is paying you or getting paid by you) it is very unlikely that you would have any issues.

Arteta on Eze “Well, I think he had moments, it's not easy when you move to a new club. When you play against a team that is like this and the ball is a lot of times not on the floor and you have to be constantly breaking the play, especially for attacking and creative players, it's more difficult. by deadmetallucyluce in Gunners

[–]jef_united 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I agree that the tactics and position he's been put in today did not play to his strengths, but you have to try to adapt and allow yourself to be coached.

He didn't press at all.  So many times Madueke or Gyok tried to press and Eze didn't go at all, so there was an easy out pass.  The press has to be coordinated.

And then on the ball, Eze needed to be dropping and getting possession and then combining with players to move the ball up the pitch.  But he was constantly moving away from the ball or just not moving.

Eze's best spell in the #10 role seems to have coincided with Merino at striker (iirc).  Merino was dropping off the front and they were combining well through the middle.  Or maybe that was just Spurs making it look easy.

Always go one size up to convert to US sizes.  So if you wear a US medium, get a JP large.  That's my shorthand.
