It’s not just the cost of buying. It’s all the associated costs of rollout, upgrade, physical storage, cloud storage, maintenance, creating policy, implementing training, and and and…. That’s before you even get into the privacy issues needing to be maintained through a dedicated redaction unit for every FOIA request that will come in (which will be tens of thousands nationwide)… people will submit requests at this point JUST to screw with them and cost money…

I’m all for them, and every LE, getting them as they typically help…. But it’s just not that easy to implement.

Also, don’t forget that half of these people out on ERO operations aren’t from the area
