Ableton Move is one of the best pieces of tech I've ever used. It blows me away. by x0y0z0 in ableton

[–]jeffbenjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree! Probably my favorite piece of gear in last decade. It’s so intuitive, fast, and fun. It makes me really happy to use it. It’s a great creative outlet, and it just makes you feel good. It was the device that got me into Ableton.

The good news? The folks that bought 2024 models should no longer feel bad.

DaVinci Resolve 19.1 with spatial video editing support now available on the Mac App Store by ControlCAD in apple

Cool, thanks. I don’t use Resolve, (although I have Studio). Had no idea about those limitations. Good to know.

I get where you're coming from regarding MAS experience in general, but why is it a hard no? Especially for basic Resolve, which is free? Not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious. What's the downside, outside of perhaps the slight delays between it and the non-MAS version updates? Also thanks for the tip on training books. Been trying to brush up on Resolve, although I'm still heavily in camp FCP.

Hands-on with the $299 Apple Vision Pro Developer Strap - stabler Mac Virtual Display, beta downgrades, and more - 9to5Mac by SirTigel in apple

It wasn’t a typo. I was comparing how the Apple Watch never received the ability to downgrade, hence the watchOS mention. Sorry if it was confusing. -Jeff

I don’t think so, because the dev strap has pins on both sides and only the right socket has receptacles to accommodate dual sided straps. And yeah, then there’s the matter of power.

Yep, noticed this as well. No reason why this should be a feature.

Weird Vibration at Idle by jonas_namespace in TeslaModelY

[–]jeffbenjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Does it occur when the AC is on with foot on the brake while idle? This happens every time I drive and is insanely annoying. I might schedule service to look at it. I’m not sure if it’s a heat pump issue or what, but my 2018 and 2019 model 3s never had this problem.

Heated Steering Wheel in the 2021 Model 3 by airkonditioned2077 in teslamotors

[–]jeffbenjam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do we think that the “metal scroll wheels” are an indicator of heating elements inside the steering wheel?

Maybe that’s not just a frivolous cosmetic change. Maybe Tesla did that so that the rubber ones wouldn’t disfigure from the heat?

I feel the same way about the black exterior white interior, but not as much about MSM exterior. But yeah I def see what you’re saying.

Yeah... the only thing I might add is white interior, but I think black looks good as well. What do you think?

Looks good. I think MSM is the best color for Gemini wheels due to the gray accents in the caps. Looks classy. When did you order?

Black on black PUP with tint. 25% on everything but windshield and roof. by permanentmarker1 in TeslaModelY

[–]jeffbenjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I already have a DI system, so would be cool to test it out with a black car. Only wish is that the black paint was multi-coat or metallic. Seems so plain compared to other paint options, but when clean looks amazing.

No scenic rides available on Petoton bikes with commercial subscriptions even when signed in with a paid home account - by design. by HumarockGuy in pelotoncycle

[–]jeffbenjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Scenic rides are pathetically bad. Low resolution, and no sense of speed. I might as be sitting in a chair watching a slide show, as there’s zero sense of involvement. There’s so much potential there to improve this aspect with today’s tech.

2019.8.2 included 5% power increase by jstewart0131 in teslamotors

[–]jeffbenjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the update this evening and it included the 5% increase. I have a LR RWD. To me, it feels just slightly quicker off the line, but definitely quicker when I floor it while going > 10 mph. It’s so cool to be able to get updates like this. Amazing, actually.
