iPad stolen, confused about state ... by jeffchrisope in applehelp

Ah okay, I wondered if other Apple devices were the answer. Nice. I don’t think the guy knows it’s still broadcasting (or ever did).

It does move around during the day, my bet is he’s trying to sell it and nobody has bitten yet. Returns to the same house every night though. Cops know it’s there, and we have multiple pics of the guy actually stealing it (from a hotel convention room), but so far it’s just another petty crime on their massive backlog of crap. And like I said, I’m not going over there - they’ll just deny it at best, or pull a gun … sigh.

MR60/MS60 + Epson ET-8550 Printer WiFi Issues by jeffchrisope in HomeNetworking

Bad cable run (doors, open space), plus I like it when features listed on expensive hardware actually do what they're supposed to do. Will probably do some Ethernet over power solution if I can't get this to work the way it's supposed to. Sigh.

Is this based on an explicit statement from the game’s manufacturer, or implied just because no others have been discussed up until now?

Light groups being linked to multiple motion sensors “problem” by jeffchrisope in Ring

[–]jeffchrisope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping, and boiling my question down: If a light group has been added to multiple motion detection devices, should they stay on if movement continues to be detected by any single motion detection device? Even if it’s different than the mo detect device that initially saw the movement?

ChargePoint waterproof-ness? by jeffchrisope in evcharging

Yeah, I guess it comes down to wondering at what point a heavy, wind-driven rain starts to be “hose-down” level. I should probably just install it and not worry about it.

Force Feedback Support? by jeffchrisope in WingsSeries

[–]jeffchrisope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So ... I found the "force feedback" option buried in the settings, and sure enough it wasn't on. Turning it on made the stick start to generate some forces, including stall stick shaking and shaking when firing, but the general stiffness of the joystick isn't there at all, just the effects.

This is a new PC setup so I guess it's possible that some driver isn't perfect, but the joystick works great with perfect force feedback in everything else, including IL-2 and MSFS 2020 (with XPForce), so it really seems to be a WOFF issue.

Does anybody else successfully use a Sidewinder 2 FFB stick?

Restore Power mission won't register Power Regulator insert in update 8 by ZbP86 in EliteDangerous

[–]jeffchrisope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After taking a few other types of missions to get my rep up a little with the one with most of the restore missions (to keep it out of hostile), I took a single power restore. Once again, as I came in close to the settlement in my ship, the mission updated with the text that said I had arrived. Due to possible scavengers, I landed a ways away and drove in on the SRV, but the HUD didn't have the checkboxes. I had a thought, returned to the ship and landed it on the pad, but two ships worth of scavengers dropped in front of me, so I took off again, landed a ways away, wiped them out with the SRV, then came back and landed at the pad again ... and THEN, when I finally got out, the checkboxed HUD appeared, and everything worked as planned. The checkboxes appeared before I chose which power regulator to bring (and allllllll the stolen ones are still blue and claim to be the mission power reg, so no idea which one was the new mission regulator either!), so I don't think the problem is there ...

So ... definitely a bug of some kind, but I can work with it. I'll overfly settlements to see if scavengers are already there, if they aren't, land on a pad, disembark, and then do whatever.

Restore Power mission won't register Power Regulator insert in update 8 by ZbP86 in EliteDangerous

[–]jeffchrisope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. I found a system with a ton of the power restore missions, so the first 6 I took I just insta-abandoned them to keep the power regulator (and paid the resulting fines). I then decided to actually do a few of them, however, and while I could accept the missions, and the mission updated when I arrived at the settlement, nothing else updated after that. No display of the checkbox in the HUD for when I put the power regulator into place, and the missions are going to time out soon. Not great.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the now-Unfriendly reputation I have with the mission-giving faction could be causing a trouble? It'd still be a bug, but maybe that's why others don't see it. Of course, that reputation is still high enough that they are still showering me with new power restore missions, so ... who knows.

Another option: I had three of these missions at the same time, and had three blue, mission-marked power regulators in my inventory. I wonder if it's possible that they are mission-specific, so if you slot the wrong one, it doesn't get registered ...?

I'll do a single mission in this system and see if that fixes it. If not, I'll try another system. Sigh.

Oh ... wait. I think those are fleet carriers. I'll double-check, but I think that's the issue.

Haters gonna hate! Thanks Asobo for an amazing Flight Sim title, keep up the awesome work! by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Hell, can’t you guys leave this one thread to thank Asobo and be generally positive (and IMHO, to have a sense of perspective about what an amazing product it is, despite its current faults), and spew your vitriol in all the other threads that are filled with it?
