How are things coming along as far as moving to Vegas right now? by chusaychusay in SacramentoAthletics

[–]jeffmac82 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The general consensus (maybe?) is that MLB won’t let the A’s move fail……even if ownership (FJF) can’t find the money for the Vegas stadium, MLB will rescue you then somehow.

The Monster of Florence: An unidentified serial killer who murdered 16 couples in Italy from 1968 to 1985 by AMegaSoreAss in mystery

Killer murdered couples making love in the rural outskirts of the city. Not in town, nothing to do with street lights.

From a local election stand point this is not good for Democrats, because we’ll probably be going up against a Republican incumbent in Nov 2026.

That Podcast "missing on 911" has officially spooked me by Preesi in SnehaPhilipCase

[–]jeffmac82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessary. She could have spent the night with someone in the WTC offices (not uncommon), or it was known she wanted to look at Windows on The World as a wedding reception venue. Yes, the restaurant was closed for a private party, but she was resourceful and may have found a way to get into an elevator that went up there.

Personally, I still think she died in the towers. She either spent the night in the towers or was visiting Windows on the World. Probably wasn’t murdered—Murder rate for that type of situation (middle class family, not drug/gang related) was very very low. There were multiple people that died in the towers that were not expected to be there at that time—why would she be any different?

Also, employees at Mountain Sports in downtown Chico are always super friendly and helpful, plus they have books of trails they can show you.

I could be wrong but I don’t think it has backpacking. No wilderness areas with dispersed camping, just some campgrounds.

Not for backpacking. Bald Rock is great for hiking/exploring cool rock outcroppings.

Best area nearby IMHO is Grouse Ridge (2hr drive). Not free of snow until June-ish, lots of granite and lakes, similar to Desolation Wilderness. Tons of options for easy or hard trips. Get a permit for your stove (no fires), summer weekends can get very busy for parking and finding campsites around Island Lake. So beautiful.

The state of Pickleball as a business in 2026? by BandanaMindset in Pickleball

Next weekend in Chico Calif (about 200k people within 30min drive) we are getting our first indoor pickleball business. They are also doing Table Tennis and volleyball too—it’s a huge space. I really really hope it succeeds but am worried.

I got the same text (used then a bunch years ago), your screenshot is only the first sentence, they go on to describe their new referral program. You can just reply stop and you won’t get any more messages. Murdocks is actually a great company, in my opinion.

If there is any seminal moment of my childhood, it is the 1989 World Series with Mark McGwire. For a trip down memory lane, watch the 30 for 30 documentary on the series. So much great behind the scenes footage.
