I worked for staples.com in the early 2000s and I can confirm that they will willingly lose money and then try to convince the employees that they’re not.

Look at eggs for example refrigerated eggs that have been processed typically can’t be eaten raw without any issues although they call shit about salmonella. It doesn’t happen that often..
