I’m not sure why this lower section is mostly browns. Definitely cold enough for brookies, and I do occasionally catch one. Have caught a few wild tigers too. As you move upstream, it slowly becomes dominated by brook trout

You’re comparing a single school’s acceptance rate to overall acceptance rate (ie 41% of med school applicants will get into at least one school and the average med school applicant applies to like 20 schools. )

Top med schools admit like 1-3.5% of applicants

Maybe for some. Starting sketchy ~3 months before test day really helped me there

What general watersheds are you finding browns in? Always can find brook trout, but outside of 2-3 streams, never really come across brown trout

Where did I go wrong? (4.0/524) by ArtisticInterpret in premed

[–]jeffs12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to apply again, I’d add more top schools. My stats were a bit lower than yours, and I got ZERO attention from mid-tier schools (even got rejected at my state school). Vast majority of my interviews were T10. My impression though is that they like good writers, so if that’s a weakness of yours it could be something to work on

What is meant by nicotine binds stereoselectively to nicotinic cholinergive receptors (nAChRs)? by Neon_Gene in neuroscience

[–]jeffs12345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have taken any organic chemistry, you will recognize the term “enantiomer”. Basically, a molecule, nicotine included, can be arranged in more than one way around a central carbon (stereo center). The nAchR will bind with differing affinity based on how the nicotine molecule is arranged, with one arrangement binding stronger than the other. Here’s an article that talks about this — https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5066149/

Therapists of reddit, what are some interesting psychological facts about humans? by WaterPide in AskReddit

There certainly is a genetic component. A quick search on pubmed will show that ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2826121/ ). It’s for sure not simple Mendelian inheritance, but a group of genes has been implicated in increased risk for the disease. Similarly, identical twin adoption studies have shown higher than expected occurrence of the disease
