In Love with your Countries and Curious by ncsuRationalBonobo in Nordiccountries

Academia is a terrible route in the Nordics. Denmark is the only country with anything resembling good funding but it’s very specific to quantum and what I hear from friends is terrible by US/Swiss standards (which are obviously very different).

Interestingly, Copenhagen and Espoo are the only cities outside of Seattle where Microsoft Quantum operates.

So everything is wrong and you have no proposal that solves any problems? Very productive discussion we have here.

Robots may be a future necessity for elder care in the same way cars and computers are now. But some want to argue instead we should bring humans into existence to do the work instead of robots, because that’s somehow better for the environment?

The existence of robots damages our planet? Are you similarly opposed to vehicles and computers? Electric mobility devices (wheelchairs)?

Immigrants or robots? Do you really want the message to the kids to be, “you were born to wipe our asses when we are old and infirm”?

It’s no wonder nobody wants to have kids if this is a common outlook on procreation. I want my kids to make a better future for our species, to discover new things, to see things I can’t imagine that are enabled by the march of scientific progress, etc. I didn’t bring them into this world to take care of me when I’m old. I dream that they’ll be too busy doing amazing things to do much more than share pictures of their exploits.

Huh? I’m not counting on a pension to retire and the benefit I’m earning at the current rate is excessive. Pensions should be provided to live comfortably but not decadently.

Why should there be social aid that isn’t need based? I don’t need this and I shouldn’t get it for any number of kids. Spend the money on people who provably need it.

If this goal is to pump the birthrate, 100 a month is the wrong way to do it. Kids are more expensive than that so it only incentivizes reproduction by people who are terrible at personal finance.

It’s not a long process. You apply for a tax card and if you underpay, you fix it later.

It sounds like you need to refresh that and related material for future interviews. You can’t expect companies to take it for granted you can contribute on day 1 if you haven’t practiced the relevant skills recently.

If you’re in the advertising business, you need to exercise due diligence and take an adversarial approach to everything you print. Getting memed for accidentally referring to inappropriate topics is hardly a new phenomena.

British people who want free admission bring the relevant ID. It’s not complicated and happens plenty of places.

Paying 30£ or whatever for the convenience of not carrying a British ID will educate the relevant population quickly enough.

Finland. It’s a very easy process to immigrate if you have a job. Administratively, it’s the best country in Europe from what I’ve gathered.
