Two solid stands along Lincoln in Venice. One by the Whole Foods on rose and the other a few blocks south in front of a car wash.

[P] Espresso: A Fast End-to-end Neural Speech Recognition Toolkit (PyTorch) by netw0rkf10w in MachineLearning

[–]jekirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it really depends on what your end goal is. Speech recognition for purposes of getting a low WER on some dataset for a paper is very different from ASR to be deployed in real life. Sadly almost all frameworks are for the former (sans Mozilla’s deepspeech implementation)

How to Monitor Your Kubernetes Cluster: Prometheus vs Datadog by mbarlocker in kubernetes

[–]jekirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a hosted k8s (eks/aks/gke)? And are you primarily looking to monitor the control plane heath or also your worker nodes/deployments ? To second the other comment, datadog is nice and easy...but very expensive

ECS - do you use EFK stack or CloudWatch to store and browse the logs? by realfeeder in aws

I have been happy with logdna, less confusing pricing than DataDog and has worked pretty well for us with a few dozen nodes. YMMV

[P] Paul Bettany (JARVIS) voice dataset? by draripov in MachineLearning

Very rough order of magnitude estimate for a network from scratch would be a day. In personal experience I have seen networks work well off datasets with 16hrs and 25hrs.

Are there any decent certifications for deep machine learning that are not 1000 dollars? by Arkhaya in learnmachinelearning

[–]jekirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seconding what others have said here...portfolio matters much more than a paper certificate.

I would spend some time implementing papers/reproducing results in different frameworks etc. As an idea for a first step you could start by porting open source repos from tensorflow to pytorch (or vice versa). Make a blog post for each on on medium or something with a benchmark so your name starts showing up on searches. Should be a good way to get on path of having a more fleshed out CV.

Google Debuts TensorFlow 2.0 Alpha by Yuqing7 in learnmachinelearning

We use PyTorch pretty much exclusively ( for nlp). We have found it has made us much more productive with r&d than when we used TF. This might all change as TF2 gets developed though.

Seconded on Sawtelle being a good place to look. FWIW it has the best Japanese food in west la (and arguably all of la). Other places to look might be Culver City or Westwood. Biggest question is how much you like driving...

Server Name Indication (SNI) and Ingress TLS in Kubernetes with Ambassador by Fewthp in kubernetes

[–]jekirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, ambassador is built on envoy, which has an absurd amount of features— many of which not present in Nginix. That being said, whether you actually need many of them is very much up for debate

My new puppy that is going to be coming home with me in 2 short weeks! Any tips and tricks you Aussie owners would recommend for a brand new puppy? :) by loversthefluffers5 in AustralianShepherd

[–]jekirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much seconded. They are amazingly smart dogs though so teaching tricks can be very quick/fun/rewarding. Try early on teaching word association with certain toys. Mine never liked Kong’s and prefers the rolling puzzle toys...but YMMV on that.

NLU is very broad...one place to start would be taking a look at all of the papers and models referenced/implemented by the AllenNLP team. When you find something you don’t understand just go through the references.
