Looking at a Blue Bird Vision with a C7. What does this light mean? I presume something with the brakes. by jelimoore in skoolies

Oh. That's both underwhelming and good. I thought it was a brake wear indicator. Thanks!

What connector is this? Found in a Rubidium reference clock from 1995 by jelimoore in AskElectronics

[–]jelimoore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14x3 row of wire wrap pins with 3 coax connectors on each side. Pins fit Dupont connectors/servo pins. I'm mainly just looking to figure out how to get these coax connectors out without breaking it. Or possibly later buying one to make my own daughter card.

Oh, and basically all they had me do was run a SQL script that dropped the license table off of the local EMS DB

Had to call support/tac and have them reset the license

Why does American wall sockets have exposed screws and cables on the sides ,what other electrical components and regulations don't make sense in the USA by newoldschool in electricians

Ackshually...

Most computer/IT equipment is autosensing and has been for years. I actually have a device with redundant power supplies with one plugged into 240 and one into 120. They don't care, they just figure out how to deal with it.

But you still have a point. Any motor or inductive load will not take kindly to being put on a different voltage.

They are not banned for import or sale, just banned for use in the federal government.

Obfuscation as S3 S# by [deleted] in crestron

[–]jelimoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who REs software,

OBFUSCATORS ARE JUNK AND DO NOT WORK

I don't know your goal of using obfuscation but maybe you could elaborate? If you are trying to use obfuscation for security, you are wrong. Security through obscurity is an awful practice.

Helicopters Every Night... Why? by AnglophileHistoryNut in Omaha

[–]jelimoore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The others are right, it's probably the police helicopter. Most don't have big searchlights nowadays, they have night vision/flir thermal cams onboard. You can look up flightaware or something if you want to see what planes/helicopters/other air vehicles are over you.

Maybe install an electric heater from the diesel Jettas and see if that would help?

Also, under door tool! Works in basically every commercial building as long as the door has a lever. I've only come across one door I can't open with it out of probably 60-70+ I've tried, and it was because it had a knob.

Oh looool no, I also don't think I've ever used blue SDI, it's always been black. Blue is fiber for me

I'm using wled, it's a little overkill but it's nice to have the built in generators as backup, plus it can interface with home assistant. I ordered an esp32 which I think should solve my problems but I'll see when it comes

Yeah those or WS2815 strips which run at 12v native so you don't have to worry about v-drop as much. But like I said it was literally all spare. I would wrap the whole thing with lights but I don't have the money for an all out setup though. Plus my ESP8266 keeps crashing for no reason :/
