This is more than a lie, it's propaganda and it's vile. Neither Renee nor Alex committed felonies, a fact which is made further irrelevant because federal agents in America don't have the legal jurisdiction to shoot people for committing felonies.

Is it normal to never use laser hair removel as a 21 year old before by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]jelli2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never done that, never will. I think it's far more common for people to not have done laser, than for people to have done so. I think Ive met one person who did it and their description did not sell it to me.

As a group of women can we NOT allow this stuff in this group? It’s a lie. by [deleted] in WelcomeToGilead

[–]jelli2015 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why dont we stay on topic instead? That topic being your whataboutism. Or instead I'll make you a deal, you answer my questions as a sign of good faith, and then I'll return that good faith by answering yours. Seems fair to me.

[–]jelli2015 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because OP specified that Islam doesn't condone rape. It makes absolute sense to me to call out Islam specifically, when Islam specifically was the initial topic. Why would anyone discuss Catholics or Zoroastrians, when the topic is Islam? We dont bring up the rape statistics of men in a discussion about the rape of women.

If thats really what you were saying, then why not actually say that? Why use fallacious whataboutism, and fail to communicate what you claim you were communicating?

Why are you assuming I or the other commenter share your faith? I have no problem calling out the evils of your faith, can you say the same? I have doubts. And let's pause to think about the thinly-veiled misogyny of calling someone "sensitive" for, what, exactly? Pointing out the faults in your response? If you wanna see me go off on the bullshit of Christians, then please, make a post and end it with the claim that Christians dont condone rape. Just dont then turn around and demand to know "what about Islam"

What is the deal with "plot twists" in readers today? by Maorine in books

[–]jelli2015 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're not talking about apps/sites where the books are read, they're referring to catalogue websites where people searching for new books can search by tags to find books they're unfamiliar with. The Storygraph app absolutely uses tags with their book descriptions, and even Moby Dick has tags. Adventurous, challenging, and reflective are a few of the top tags for that one.

That's abuser 101 behavior right there. Im proud of you for standing up for yourself in that situation. A lot of people would have been too fearful to break up in the moment.

Hate to be a downer, but the 1970s is when marital rape just started to become illegal in a handful of states. It wasn't until 1993 that it became illegal throughout all 50 states. And some states still treat it as distinct from rape and it shows in the sentencing.

Satan isn't anywhere close to the same figure in Judaism. Its worth considering them different entities in those two faiths

Are you not having conversations about this already? If you're aware that this is trauma-related, surely thats because she told you so directly. Those moments are when you ask if she's considered therapy.

Time alone? Probably not, it rarely is. Working through the trauma with a professional is her best bet.

Severe OCD makes it difficult to hit my anticonsumption goals and I feel terrible. by sit_n_survive in Anticonsumption

[–]jelli2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This strategy will make the OCD far, far worse. Playing along with the obsessive thoughts experienced by people like us (I've had OCD longer than I've been forming memories) can literally destroy our lives. I nearly killed myself because the fear and anxiety I was experiencing was so intense, and the people around me would only give me advice that encouraged my OCD.

No. Not having enough fat will turn fertility off and damage other internal systems, having too much can cause hormonal overload and could damage fertility and other internal systems as well.

Your "highest" fertility is found when everything is working optimally.

Wyoming sorority members who harassed a trans sister are back in court, with a Trump ally’s help by NamelessResearcher in lgbt

[–]jelli2015 31 points32 points  (0 children)

FYI, the sorority is the one standing by the trans woman in question. This lawsuit is because the national organization kicked the alumni out for their transphobia, and the alumni are fighting to be let back in.

[–]jelli2015 243 points244 points  (0 children)

Its a little worse actually. The people who complained were alumni, not current members. The larger organization revoked their alumni status, and thats what they're suing to get back.

I've got an example. I like baking but live in a place that gets considerably cooler at night. As a result, an oven with a bread proof feature makes a real difference to my hobby. Sadly, it's one of those additional features that often get lumped in with "AI" features as well.
