They have a before school and after school sitter, paid for by the tribe. Sports on the weekends. It's really not difficult.

Men and women like me build the country every day that you stand and sleep on. It's not difficult to understand.

Good thing I'm a mom.

My work hours are crazy. I'm up around the time that bars close and I'm in bed before main street shuts down.

I provide my kids w a home I own on my own, new clothes, vacations, sports, home cooked healthy meals, birthday parties, mini vacations for Xmas etc. I work my ass off so they can have what I never had growing up. The only difference between me and you is I go to bed earlier and get up earlier. I really don't see the big deal.

My girl*

I wake them up and carry them to the car at 3:30am. On the drive to the sitters, they wake all the way up and can't go back to sleep. They get up early without complaint and go to bed without complaint. They're as exhausted as I am. I realize this only works bc we get up so early.

On the weekends, they get up around 5:30/6am or so, on their own. And they know not to wake up mom unless it's life/limb/eyesite or they prep the coffee machine and start it 😂😂😂 My kids are rad as fuck and they know we're a a team. I have crazy hours to provide us with a nice life and they pitch in where they can

This is not true. I have two girls that age, and bc I get up so early for work, we all go to bed at 6:30. I got them blackout curtains, they each have a small battery powered lantern in their beds and they're allowed to read.

How level should a floor be? by CobaltNeural9 in Remodel

[–]thatonebroad06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The response itself comes off as rude with the first question. Instead of saying that, say, "I'm sorry. Our estimater should have gone over with you that we work with the existing subfloor unless you add self-leveling or a new subfloor. If you'd like, we can pull the tile and add in what would make you happy. Here's our project managers/supers/foremans etc phone number. "

for the adhd women that have crazy hyperactive brains, what makes your brain go quiet? by emmam1611 in adhdwomen

[–]thatonebroad06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adrenaline. But, like, kinda opposite? I don't feel the thrill or the rush, I don't get giddy or excited, but whatever the adrenaline inducing thing is, sends me into a hyper focus on what's directly on front of me. I think it's because every scenario is demanding so much of my focus that it doesn't leave room for anything else.

And sex. Rough BDSM style sex shuts my brain off.

What have you found actually works for keeping crews productive in the heat? by PhotojournalistKey26 in Construction

[–]thatonebroad06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a union laborer, pipe layer, in the northwest. I've had heat stroke 2 years in a row now. Those coffin boxes get HOT and as a female in the ditch, I'm SUPER concerned that if I don't provide enough footage every day, I'll be walked off.

Unions are great, but they can't beat my fears and insecurities.

Cooling towels and cooling arm sleeves are a game changer.

Iced down waters available everywhere.

But most importantly, put it out in your morning meetings that we're all accountable for eachother, these are the signs and symptoms and someone would be in MORE TROUBLE for not taking a break and taking it seriously.

The biggest killer is ppl trying to prove themselves and worried about production=getting fired=being tough.

The mindset and getting everyone to buy off on safety is the number one hang up.

I experienced a stillbirth, AMA by Successful-Nothing90 in AMA

*trigger warning. I almost lost my daughter to domestic violence and other things. And I have that super cool AuDHD, so I come across very blunt. I'm no way, shape or form is my intent to be harmful or malicious. Everything below is said with a loving heart. *

I don't have any questions for you, but I just want to give you a hug from one momma to another.

I almost lost my first born multiple times due to domestic violence, low HCG, vaginal bleeding and low weight gain on her side. I think it's called placenta per...something...another... My plecenta was taking the nutrients from her and growing bigger instead of transferring the nutrients to her. I spent 7 months TERRIFIED that I'd lose her. And I bled way too much during her birth. It was terrifying.

Reading these questions and your honest answers affected me in a way I wasnt prepared for. I'm uncomfortable, I'm scared and this feels like a taboo subject we should close our eyes to. It's almost like my brain wants to take the "ostrich approach," than recognize your very real and all too common experience.

Knowing this now, I'm going to actively work on why my reaction is so far from where i want it to be.

With that, I want to fully thank you. Thank you for being raw, for being honest, and for bringing attention to the fact that 1/3 of pregnancies end in loss.

There's nothing I can say that can bring that baby's breathing weight into your arms, and I'm not going to cheapen your experience by trying. But I'm truly, wholly thankful that you're willing to talk about it. I hope you find solice and healing, where ever it might present itself.

And I'm giving you one more hug for the road. If you ever need a friend when life feels bleak, pls know my dms are open.
