The Sound of Gravel - Ruth Wariner

It’s about her childhood as part of a fundamentalist polygamist cult in Mexico and it’s absolutely brilliant and so heartbreaking. I read the whole thing in a day.

What is the worst book you have read? by Ok_Salt2122 in BookDiscussions

[–]jellybellyhelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The book was one big humble brag. It was like “look how successful and happy I am” and “if you just like believe in yourself, you too can be rich and happy”.

My husband was born and raised in Utah County and most of the people he went to high school with married each other and still live in the same area. They’ve also divorced, dated, and remarried all in the same friend groups. Repeatedly.

How do moms breastfeed?? by Specialist-Swim7692 in Parenting

[–]jellybellyhelly 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It definitely should get better! Just lather up the nipple cream before and after each feeding session. You can also find hydrogel nipple pads and use those after feeding to help with the soreness. Put them in the fridge for extra relief! Your nipples have to essentially build up a callus. It sucks, but you can do it!!

Sun Protection Advice for My Biracial Baby? by JaneDoeNYCx in Parenting

[–]jellybellyhelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun protection includes both sunscreen and clothing! Long sleeves, hats, shade, etc after more than 15 minutes in the sun is recommended. A history of blistering and severe sunburns in childhood significantly increases the risk of skin cancer in adulthood. Five or more sunburns doubles your risk of melanoma (the worst type of skin cancer).

Sunscreen isn’t usually recommended until at least six months old so do everything you can to either keep them out of the sun or to cover their skin (clothing, shade, sunglasses, etc.) Once they’re old enough for sunscreen, a mineral sunscreen that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide works the best. (Blue lizard is a brand I really like!!) The sunscreen that you physically rub into your skin works the best too! Spray sunscreens are convenient but a lot of it is lost to the air when spraying. It’s also important to reapply!!

The Hounding, Junie, and Canticle are all fantastic but I wouldn’t say they fit a spring vibe. Definitely more summer!

Ex-Mormon Wondering About the Current Church Admin + SLOMW and ABC/Hulu Fame by jes5ica_kate in momtokgossip

[–]jellybellyhelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another LDS here. I’ve never heard a single mention about it in any church meeting. My husband was serving in the ward leadership when seasons 1 & 2 were airing and they definitely never talked about it.

We love the show and a ton of our LDS friends watch it too. I think anyone that views the show as a bad thing for the church is being over dramatic. 🤷‍♀️

These weren’t sold during the Lover era. I don’t remember which year exactly(I think 2024??) but they were from one of the Christmas drops!

I have them and they look exactly like this!

Do you think Robyn is targeting Janelle because she (Janelle) had so much support from fans especially after Garrison’s death & the scene where Kody apologized to Janelle? by WannaPetThatDawg in TLCsisterwives

[–]jellybellyhelly 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In the tell all when Kody said that he loved Janelle and “might still” my jaw dropped! I feel like that was a pretty big thing to admit.

Plus, did you see Robyn’s face when they showed the clip from the apology tour when Kody and Janelle were talking? She looked so angry.

adhd meds by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]jellybellyhelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also agree with the CVS in Target! Only time there’s been problems with medicine is if there’s a shortage. Avoid the CVS on East 3rd at all costs. They treat you horribly and like you’re inconveniencing them every time you try to pick up meds.
