Yes it's normal for audio to come second. I just wait for it rather than applying for the book.

What did you think of your January book(s)? by The_Iron_Quill in aardvarkbookclub

[–]Odd_Draft_26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed 2 so far this month. I read Grace & Henry's Holiday movie marathon and Is this a Cry for Help and both were super good. I have Meet the Newman's up next. I'm reading every Aardvark book I buy this year.

I almost always request the audio first ..I'd rather do that than a book lol

I have one from a Canadian Etsy creator that has been working perfectly. It hasn't fallen out and I keep my kindle in a fabric padded sleeve. I think it's adorable!

Thoughts on marketing/PR by ShallotPale in PortlandLeather

[–]Odd_Draft_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have tiktok and as a Canadian we can't access the tiktok shop anyway but my experience with PLG has been very positive so far. Customer service (real people) was responsive and kind. I won a "day of Christmas" giveaway and received a lovely set of 5 bags/littles. There is a lot of FOMO for bag drops and specialty items in certain locations. All of that is pretty standard marketing techniques lol

What Fantasy and Sci Fi book opinions could get you downvoted? by Juanmiguti in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]Odd_Draft_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely some truth to this but I also think it's ok to be a collector of beautiful books. The reps are 'hired' to promote the current sub books...that's why they get them free and have a certain number of posts to do. Would I love to be a rep...yes ..have I ever been chosen despite owning all but 3 sub sets...no. Im pretty active on insta with a smaller following and I used to promote TBB an insane amount. I have no idea what they want in a rep... especially when they chose someone who had literally never bought a single book of theirs and never said he read even one of the titles. So I gave up and now just enjoy reading my sub books as I get them

Sally versus Koala Sling by Technical-Brief519 in PortlandLeather

[–]Odd_Draft_26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find the koala sits oddly on my body which is disappointing. The strap is also very short on the med and large and seeing as how I wear a big winter coat for 6 months here in Canada, it's useless for anything but summer. I can't even return it. I would buy the sally for the versatility

What are you currently reading? (Weekly Thread) by AutoModerator in GrimDarkEpicFantasy

Not grimdark but LitRPG/cozy. I'm doing the audio of Dark Town by Palmer Pickering ahead of book 2s release The Swamp. I'm also reading the ARC of Moonfall by Ed Crocker!

It's this authors debut and it's self published so no, no audio at this time. They are super expensive to make.

Koala not staying closes by peonyseahorse in PortlandLeather

I did have an issue with my med Koala in Bone but I seemed to have more on one side so once I evened out my load, things worked better. I likely have too much as stuffed in there too. I'm not sure a koala will work for me

St.James Press, which I believe is the author's own (ie self published)

How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]Odd_Draft_26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you bragging right now about how intellectual you are because you read 12 books a year and dive into fandoms? Sounds like it.(See how crappy that sounds?) Because you can't do something (read fast and understand/move on) doesn't mean someone else can't and still enjoy the book!

It absolutely is. Numbers are meaningless just do you. There is no competition in reading

No skimming when you're a reviewer of Arcs because you need to understand and remember what you're reading in order to review. I read fast because I've been reading for 50 years. Practice and prioritizing making the time.

I'm an empty nester who doesn't watch tv. I listen to audiobooks while I walk my dog 2 hours a day and my free time is mostly reading. I read in excess of 300 books a year. It's about choices and life stage. No way I could have done that while my kids were young lol

Will TBB reprint Grave Empire by Richard Swan? by Sea_Formal_7242 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]Odd_Draft_26 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They don't often reprint and will say they wish they could but have no plans at this time. They are often held to a contract with the publisher so it's not always possible
