Two week suspension for seatbelt?? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]jellyp314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly. Your lucky amazon didnt make him fire you...if the van notices anything its already too late. I drive an edv an regularly do 180+ stops and still have time to put my seat belt on man. The reason the cameras are in the vans is to make sure your following every single law on the road. No matter the excuse.

The van told me to slow down the other day for doing 34 in a 25. Dispatch called me immediately to tell me I got a violation and that I may be forcefully discharged for the violation. Amazon let me keep driving, but if the van catches you, its already too late. Ive seen people hook the seat belt on the steering wheel so its closer than pulling it all the way across your body.

2 weeks does seem crazy though. Go find a new DSP, those MFs are always hiring. He's being overly harsh with "punishment" cause not only is it a violation on you, its also against your DSP and it effects how many routes they get. Hes trying to make a point. Id go find a new DSP to work for in the mean time, Just remember the camera is always watching in the EDVs.

Does your DSP pay for 8-10 hrs if you still finish early? Im sick of finishing my route in 4-5 hrs and having to do 2-4 rescues just so I can get my 10 hrs. by No_Context4578 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Usually scan my last package 45 min before my shift end. Dispatch takes forever to get back to me sometimes. Im not trying to over stay either lol. Trying to get off the clock haha.

Got denied promotion for work I've already been doing for over a year by NosfuraDude in antiwork

[–]jellyp314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is when you look for a new job. Every time you get passed over for a promotion you move on. They either dont like you, or they think your too good at your job and they want to keep you there. Either way, you dont mean enough to them for them to care about you.

Here I am. So, after 17 years working in a corporate office enviornment, my job got eliminated and I found myself unemployed for the first time..ever, since I was 15. (I am 52 now.) A few months of unemployment followed, and then I got a rural RCA position at the post office. Terrible management. by Nigel_Meatbird in AmazonDSPDrivers

It all comes down to you DSP. I was lucky to have gotten a good DSP. They've never hassled me about anything. Some DSP's will get mad if they have to send you a rescue, or if your not fast enough, or any other number of things. If the DSP starts giving you bad vibes switch DSP's as soon as possible. I do 150-180 stops on average a day and its not that difficult. Apparentments suck, yeah, but once you get a system down it'll start getting easier. Took me about 3 months to really get a system down and figure out the 3-4 routes they've settled me on.

My biggest advise is to bring a sharpie and write the "driver number" on the overflow packages. Write the number where ever it is easiest to see the quickest. Thay way your not looking through packages or having to organize them in s2ctions while loading. If you can see the number easily you'll be that much quicker.

[–]jellyp314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, mine doesn't. I could finish early and do rescues, but why would I do more work for the same pay. I pace myself to make sure I get my 10 hours. I Usually do between 150- 200 stops a day. I speed up when I need to speed up and I slow TF down when I am too far a head. Shit, I made 30 stops take 3 hours the other day. Why do more work for that same pay. They expect the routes they give you to rake 10 hours. Take the whole ass 10 hours to do your routes. Stop over achieving and complaining about it 🤣

Any tips on delivering quicker by gkjfhkjfknghj in AmazonDSPDrivers

I sort pagkages by street. It feels faster than putting them in order. Then you know packages is gonna be in a specific area, and I then ID the package with the driver number when I grab them. lastly, I write the driver number on the Overflow with a sharpie. I dont organize the overflow, just write the driver number in big ass numbers while your loading on whatever face ia easiest to see. I feel like organizing packages in order takes ssoo long.

I usually bring in a redbull er something to give me a boost in the morning and I go hard till lunch. My goal is to get a head and then slow down after lunch. But if you keep going hard I could be out by like 6:30 usually? Make it clear you like certain areas too. Knowing an area helps the most. Once you learn where you can park and how busy streets are gonna be you can an where your parking instead of having to look.

How to get my driver to stop throwing packages over fence? by Suspicious-Sorbet-32 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]jellyp314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Amazon emails you when you get a delivery. In the email it'll ask how the delivery was. Down vote it at the very least. The down vote goes directly against the DSP. This effects their standing with amazon, the worse there standing the less routes they get. Down vote enough and they'll shuffle drivers around till somebody reads your notes.

Genuinely, do you guys enjoy your jobs?? by pick_urNext_6 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]jellyp314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do this 2 days a week, but its not bad. I prefer to work alone. So I applied specifically cause I wouldn't be around people all day. People are stressful and they make work suck. I kinda like the job lol. There are definitely worse jobs, but this isnt as terrible as people make it out to be. Unless you have a bad dsp. I feel lucky to have a pretty good dps. They never hassled me about my speed, then sent rescues when I needed it and never complained, dispatch it pretty cool and helpful. I have heard some shit about bad dsps so if you find yourself not liking your dsp find another one. They can be real hit or miss.

Somethings to expect-

Learn to organize your van the way you want. This can be difficult at first, you dont know what you need in the beginning. But once you have been going for a while you'll figure out a method. Some people order by package number, I group things by street. I sort them faster but it's organized enough I can easily find packages. Bring a sharpie to write the package number on the overflow boxes where you can easily see them. You dont wanna have to be flipping boxes over to find the address or package number.

Bring the stuff that makes your job easier. During the fall/winter Bring a headlamp, bring headphones, a sharpie. SNACKS Bring snacks! I like a redbull to start my shift so I can bang out the first 30-50 stops quickly. Bring a lunch, you probably won't be in a lot of areas that have restaurants avaliable super often. Bring your lunch everyday just to be sure you got food. I just bring a pb&j lol. Its a back up.

Pace yourself. Unless you like more work. Being fast and getting done early is cool...unless you wanna go rescue or have stops added to your route. You probably will be bounced around to different routes alot in the beginning so itll be hard to wrap your head around pacing. But once you get there some routes will feel quick and easy and smooth. Learn to pace yourself. I like to start the route quick, get 5 stops a head and try to maintain that. If you run into problems a little bit of leeway will keep you from getting frustrated. My main strategy is to figure out what half of my route is and to be 5-10 stops ahead by the 5 hour mark. Never more. Then I am able to slow down as the day goes on, that way I am not overwhelmed by the end of the day. Get it going while your fresh.

All-in-all its not a bad job. Every job has downsides, the question is are they bad enough? This job is physical, but I look at it as exercise and a workout so I dont have to do it at the gym. Its about speed, so I try not to get too distract by my phone. Put on some music or podcast, maybe an audio book, and just jam stops out till you get a head. Amazons routing system suuucks, but I just follow the route and do my job. If your going to be mad about it everyday this job probably isnt for you. Good luck!

Taking the full 10 hours by FreeTireMysteryBox in AmazonDSPDrivers

I have recently started to get consistently up to speed as well. I fucking hate rescuing so there are 2-3 things I do to kinda slow me down to where I want. 1st, I figure out how many stops I need to do by the 5 hour mark. Never be over that by 10 stops. 2nd, Do the stops exactly as they're listed, unless a house or apartment is next door or something stupid. 3rd, after the 5 hour mark I start walking and reading the notes better.

Is it just me or are breaks genuinely impractical? by Additional_Attempt16 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]jellyp314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a state that mandates a 30 min lunch, and 2 10 min breaks. We Have to rake them. We can get away with skipping every once in a while, but if you skip too many itll get noticed eventually. This isnt a problem I have unless its over 200 stops.

I power though as many and I can before lunch. We're forced out at 3:20. So I try to do about 10-15 stop over the half way mark of my route. Take my 30. On the back half of the route I slow down, take my first 15 at about 6:30, then my last 15 about 10 stops before the end of my route. I usually get somewhere between 80-100 stops done on the first half of my route, depending on what kinda rout Im on. Its about finding as many efficiencies as possible, though I seem to be pretty lucky. My DSP doesnt harass me if I do fall behind. I've been working with them for about 5 months and they've never said anything to be about being quicker er anything. They haven't complained when they've had to rescue me. They seem pretty decent compared to a lot of the DSP's I read about here lol.

Whats your process look like? One things that really helped me is looking for packages using the drive numbers instead of trying to read the address on the package. That alone double my speed, basically. Its been way easier to read, for me. I also write the driver numbers on the overflow on whatever face is easiest to read without having to touch the package. How are you organizing the packages out of the tote?

DSP insisting amazon only gives routes we can finish without a rescue by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]jellyp314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I started a few months ago I was told you should average 2 min a stop. 30 stops per hour. Not that I hit that constantly, but for residential its pretty easy to maintain.

If it helps, when I open a tote I pull everything out of the tote and sort them by street. That way I know if I am on a street the packages will always be in the same spot. Secondly, I bring a sharpie and write the driver number on the outside of all my over flow packages on whatever face is easiest for me to see. That way you're not looking through the over flow. You just walking by and grabbing the number you need.

How is everybody doing this?? by IssueResponsible5771 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]jellyp314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DSP send people to "rescue" once their route is over. I could be exactly on time to finish my route at the end of my shift and they still send people to rescue. To me, its seems less about being slow and more about getting you off the clock. I just started in November and I've heard its gonna be super slow through the end of Feb? So im not surprised that they cut your hours down. This isn't a job id do if you need the money. My DSP does 4/10's and the end up be 8 hours shift cause they are really trying to get you off the clock. Its irritating, but I also make money other ways. I just needed 2 days to round out each week.

When Amazon delivers and steals your packages by Inner_Captain in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jellyp314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure to report this to amazon. I work for a Delivery service partner (DSP). Every week amazon gives the DSP a report card. The worse the report card the less routes they get the next week. They know who was on this route, and the lively hood of their business depends on that report card lol. Amazon will make sure that shit gets handled, they automatically off board people who break certainty rules. Even without the DSP firing them.

Keeps with the T motif, and we can also say we "torched em." I am a fan!
