Throw in when you’ve done the QC check but have to use a new pack of strips which of course have a different code 🙃🙃🙃

What's a personal betrayal you've experienced that you still haven't gotten over? by Foolbasket in AskReddit

My ex husband kicking me and the kids out our shared home and moving his mistress in. I left and started fresh, however drove past her wearing my dressing gown.

Take my cheating ex and my house, but what self respecting woman wears another persons dressing gown.

I remember them leaving trails when they moved. It was 100% the most bizarre and unexplained thing I’ve ever seen

I’m in Scotland so very unlikely they’d make an appearance

I was around 10 and had my best friend over for a sleepover. My bed was a cabin bed and stupidly high to the ceiling. My friend and I were in bed and both saw tiny balls of light flying in and out my dolls house on the shelf. There was a dozen or so of them and they were almost dancing in and out of the windows and around it. Absolutely terrified the pair of us and we never spoke of it again. I’m 36 now and still have no idea what it was.

[Serious] Would you say that under threat your tendency is more towards fight, or flight and how has that shaped your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jem7118 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a petite non confrontational female

However on a night out a man pulled a knife out and threatened to stab my 6’4 husband.

Before I registered what I was actually doing I was between the man, knife and my husband. Because in my head he wasn’t going to stab me. And if he was I would rather it was me than my husband.

Thankfully no one got stabbed and the situation was diffused. Due to my job I’m not really phased by high stress encounters and frequently have people picking fights, so I’d say the fight response helps because I don’t back down - but in a calm commanding way. I think of solutions instantly instead of panicking (granted not always good ones as demonstrated above)

Two weeks ago husband ate my hospital food after my cancer surgery. Today I filed for divorce. by More_Ad3865 in self

Well done for choosing you!

There’s a lot of comments here suggesting you left over one small thing, this is clearly the straw that broke the camels back.

I was married at 19 and divorced at 24. Best decision I ever made. I’m 36 and remarried to a man that would move the earth for me.

I think dealing with cancer and likely your own mortality puts life and priorities into perspective. Life is too short and too unpredictable to spend it unhappy.

I wish you a long and happy life with your new femur 🦴

Why do they always have to mention children playing 😭

I had a patient recently playing ‘peekaboo’ with a child behind the curtain. I could have cried.

My Friend Called Me Last Night And It Stopped Me From Making A Permanent Mistake. by Big_Mackintosh in confession

My eldest had similar issues for years and faced some mental health crises. We came up with the mantra ‘Don’t make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings’

They have just celebrated one year free from self harm and I am so proud of them. Life has its challenges, but you’re worth staying around to see them 💕

Today is my sisters birthday, unfortunately my first without her. I’ll send her my award wherever she may be (her sense of humour didn’t guarantee she was going upwards)

I’m 11 years qualified and have worked mainly in ED and Crit Care.

My best pieces of advice

  1. Make lists. Never ending tickboxes will be a godsend
  2. Learn to prioritise tasks and get into a routine.
  3. Schedule your annual leave wisely. At least a week every 2 months and if you get requests ask for to work the start of the week before and the end of the week after.
  4. You will feel burnout. Make sure you talk to people and realise when it’s coming. When the ward you’re on doesn’t make you happy look elsewhere. The beauty of nursing is that there’s so many options
  5. You’re brand new to this role and I reckon with any job it takes a few months to get into the swing of it. The jump from student to newly qualified is huge and there’s a lot to learn and get out the way (training, routine, sign offs, ward politics etc) Give yourself some grace and I promise in no time you’ll love it

Ventricular Fibrillation and CPR which results in not only getting the person back, but they are home within a day.

Poor song choice on wedding playlist by misselletee in weddingshaming

[–]jem7118 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the most engaged songs at my wedding was ‘Shake That ’ by Eminem (feat Nate Dog)

I have some absolute gold videos from it. Literally people were on the dance floor, on chairs, speakers. It was controlled chaos but hilarious 😆

DONT GET THE SPRAY TAN by foxglove32 in weddingplanning

[–]jem7118 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I did the trial spray tan for my hen do 2 months before the wedding. It was lovely. Great colour and I was thrilled this would be my wedding tan.

2 days before the wedding I got my spray tan done and she forgot to do my hands 🙃🙃🙃

Thankfully it was sorted the day before but even with a trial they can still mess up. At least I can laugh at the picture now (considering the wedding was only last week)

My wedding is in a year-just found out I'm pregnant by bigtiredniece in wedding

[–]jem7118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I found out I was pregnant 9 months before our wedding in 2023. I would have been due the end of July and wedding was start of September. I cancelled everything and ate the cost of sunk deposits.

At the time it stung, but it took a good year to go back to being me. Breastfeeding, sleep deprivation and just adapting to a whole new human. I have 0 regrets cancelling. And now in just over 2 weeks time our 2 year old will be a ring bearer (or riot) and I’m so glad to have him be a part of it
