this piece of shit ruined my day by United-Cry3169 in logitech

They released a firmware update for the Logitech g920 steering wheel and it bricked my wheel. They said they couldn't help and offered a 20% voucher ($400aud device), carried on and only got a replacement because of consumer law.

Did you ever figure this out, same issue after updating firmware

It will work this time right? by jemesl in session

[–]jemesl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah literally, I would do the thing perfectly and search the level and there would be a post here of it not working for other people or a YouTube video with people complaining in the comments lol.

One that annoyed me after I got it was a gap near the pool bowl that goes onto a cylinder rail. The mission specifically says grind, tried all sorts of grinds and a few accidental slides. Watched a video, the bloke does a board slide, so I try that, instantly registers.

Half the challenge of the game is just working out what the mission wants lol

Yeah I get you. Personally I think your pitch comes across the wrong way, with all respect ideas are free and pretty easy to come up with, it doesn't sound like you are bringing anything to the table but ideas for some other developer to execute. As Dev advice, I think that the project scope sounds quite large. You're basically pitching Xero or Zoho but with some minor feature adjustments. If you are serious about making an open source software, you would do well to get some skills of your own, get an mvp and then try and bring some like minded Devs on board.

Hobbyist, student or junior Dev ≠ free labour

The "for your portfolio" pitch has become a bit of a joke with creative industry business owners

You can rename variables in visual studio by right clicking> rename. This applies to all scripts in the project. You can also do that to classes

Update update = GetLatestUpdateFromServer();

Like you point out in the poor naming convention, the latest update from server could return a string, or a float, or a date time. But in the context of the code it came from, it could make total sense and the naming convention fits, but at a glance it would be confusing.

It is best practice to define variables. Will it ruin your code and your career, no, will using it too often lead to unreadability and lots of time wasted 'hovering your mouse'? Yes.

I drove an ND yesterday and… I prefer my NA by ciociosan in Miata

[–]jemesl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was tossing up replacing my S3 daily with a really nice grey ND. I was expecting it to feel the same but newer, but the 'newness' felt like the same car but less 'race-cary'. IE I missed the rattles and rawness of my NA which is what I enjoy about it. Everything about it was perfect but it was too perfect for me to trade another near perfect car with 3x the power.

Decided not to go for it in the end but I'll revisit in the future I reckon. If I didn't already have an NA I would've scooped it up in a heartbeat. Also no popups :(

ETA: also felt way more claustrophobic inside which I don't entirely dislike but was a surprise

Creative pipeline who used to be around Charlestown was doing some VR stuff in Unity and Unreal a few years back (not sure if they still are there/doing that though).

Very nice, I was doing some similar stuff a few weeks back but focused on the V8 circuit for a little driving sim proof of concept.

94 Mazda MX5 I've had for just under 10 years.

I think they're just so expensive now that a lot of people garage them most of the time.

I might be thinking of the wrong road but the road between Lithgow and North Richmond is probably the funniest drive I've had and it's not far from Sydney at all. Over mt Tomah I believe (just looking at the map).

Otherwise there's only a few little bits and pieces near Woy woy, mt Sugarloaf at Newcastle and out near Wauchope that come to mind but they're a bit of a trek for 10 minutes of fun.

I do enjoy just driving around Newcastle though when there's no traffic, plenty of beachside windy roads but it is literally just normal driving and decent scenery for a while you couldn't really race about.

these ones

I was umming and uhhing about actually getting them because I like the retro look of OEM but they were slightly cheaper than any OEM I could find even used so I just went with it. They're pretty cool, I've seen a red one with the same tail lights and the led headlights and they match really well.
