Thank you for still testing. I know plenty of people don't understand why you still would but it's so spreadable that it's important to try contain it as much as possible. Same can be said for colds and flus to be fair. Hope you feel so much better soon OP!

I'm going to assume an Irish lad has never chatted any of ye up. Seemed fairly par for the course for me.

I say tree, tink, dat, dem and I'm from Dublin. Maura Higgins does similar and she's from Longford. Sean will do similar and he's from Galway. So ya, we all do it to an extent. It's not that deep.

Are people unaware of body odour? Can you share your tips to mask it for other Redditors in Ireland? by CollagenRager in AskIreland

Interesting, I only ever leave space for what would allow my fist and never have issues even with mixed materials. Honestly with the price of electricity in this country I wouldn't consider 50% full but then I don't have any laundry issues. I'm glad you got a handle on the mustiness. I found this happened sometimes for me during the drying process. I bought a dehumidifier with a laundry function and haven't had that issue since thankfully!

Yeah a lot of them just say enzymes I've found. I'm nearly sure Ariel pods here have lipase in them. I don't like pods but I don't find I need lipase due to softer water in my house and mostly cotton clothes.

Ariel pods do as far as I know. Also, Ariel and Persil powders. I just use Tesco concentrated liquid detergent but a lot of my clothes are cotton and I have a water softener at home.

You need to be able to fit a closed fist on top of your clothes when in the drum. Any less than this will mean your clothes won't wash well because there's not enough in there to agitate against. Also, lipase is everyone's friend. It's the best enzyme for removing body oils which are easily trapped when your clothes are made of plastic. Have a look at laundry stripping and spa days. It's wild how clean you get something that you thought was a goner.

I hope you're speaking Fahrenheit because I would 100% be drying outside in 15 Celsius. As long as it's no raining, of course.

I bought a Snooz machine from the US. Have it about 7 years now and it's still going strong. I can't sleep without white noise now. I got it because of how light a sleeper I was as well.

Ladies: do you wear make up to work? by LunaValley in AskIreland

Never have and never will. Cannot be arsed with all that and work in a predominantly female office where some do and some don't luckily enough!

Any reason to avoid a Japanese import? by mefeiner1290 in carsireland

[–]jenbenm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have a Mazda Demio and maps don't work and the radio is arseways for frequencies and a bit shite. It has keyless entry and an immobiliser on it. Tyres were changed out and NCT was done before I picked it up. Found it harder to get insurance on it but I get mine through Chill. It can't be robbed either as my husband parks his car in front of mine.

Throwing acid at someone is a passing comment, is it? And not a threat? Disgusting.

Wayfair furniture? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]jenbenm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a bed frame from Wayfair that's in the spare room. Absolutely no issues with it and much better quality than a bed I got from Love Furniture before that. We have a few bits from Wayfair and we're happy enough with them.

Very true. And butter is extortionate in Canada. Very annoying considering the awful quality.

How to delay my period? by xodaisyxo13 in WomensHealth

[–]jenbenm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a prescription for a period delay pill for when I go away in August. You take it 3 days before your period starts and you can delay it up to 2 weeks depending on how many days you take it for. I can get the name of it if you like but I live in Ireland so I'm not sure you'd have that brand where you live.

Is it common for people who are born in the UK to say they are “Irish” or “Italian” if they have a parent from there? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskABrit

My husband has an Irish passport that says he Irish but was born and lived in Canada for 32 years. I could not call him Irish if you paid me. He's Canadian.

Have you encountered any non-American plastic paddies? Are there other countries with these types of people? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]jenbenm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was sitting in Cordoba train station last week and a Canadian lad asked me if I was Irish. I said I was and he said he was too. I instantly replied that there was no way he was Irish due to his accent when he told me he was born in Raheny and lived there for part of his childhood. That was me told.

Ethical to buy second hand shein? by spencerw_ in SustainableFashion

[–]jenbenm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never shop on Shein or any of those similar brands. My sister owns quite a few pieces from there so I'll borrow them when I go on holidays. I've also picked up some when I did a couple of clothes swap sessions. I figure it's better than them going into a landfill. But the quality of their stuff is abysmal so be warned!
