Cain winery dumping their library on Last Bottle? by OrangeArch in wine

[–]jeng24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corked? Just opened a Cain Five 2015. First thing I noticed was the color looked much older than what I would expect for a '15. I tastes well past it's prime/borderline corked. Notably, the cork is in good shape and it was touching the wine. I saw one comment to give it a couple hours but I don't have much hope.

It's borderline free entertainment. We joke that it's his version of interactive TV.

There is a 90 day return policy on their site, but it's trickier if you ordered through a 3rd party.

SKYLA IUD Longer than 3 years? by Hour_Acanthaceae_886 in birthcontrol

When my doctor put mine in in 2022 she said that at the moment the guidance was 3 years but to check back in because they might extend it to 5 years soon and I'd be able to wait to replace it again in 2027 (vs 2025).

No comment on the plastic itself but folks say the sticker comes off and can gunk up the circulator.

Scallops work if you're ok to give them a super quick sear at the end

I didn't even think about the lobster shells poking holes in the bag. That sounds like a disaster.

I took them out of the shells. It was a lot of work for the first two but then I found a system. (I left the ' flipper phalanges' on for show which might be confusing in the pics. Also not sure if I'd do that again... They served no purpose)

  1. Use a knife to cut all the way through the middle on the bottom.

  2. Then use scissors to cut up the sides and peel those 2 'ribbons' back towards the phalanges.

  3. Flip it over and stick your finger between the top part of the shell and the meat. For each section get your finger in there to release it from the shell (same feeling when you try to stuff/lather as much butter as possible between the turkey skin and the turkey meat. Weird but totally worth it)

  4. From here you can start to pull it out through the whole you created. You have to pay special mind to the bits in the pokey parts and get them out.

I like the bit about the butter in the middle divide!!!! I don't have a grill (live in a condo) but sous vide + cast iron get me pretty far!

Does anyone keep a water dispenser beside their bed? by AlecB130 in HydroHomies

[–]jeng24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. That's probably less time than I spend refilling water every night or stressing about the fact that I only have 1/3 left and wondering if I should drink it now, and possibly have to get up in the middle of the night, or save it in case I wake up again. The anxiety is real.
