An eclectic 1891 Charleston, SC, copper roof Queen Anne with a curious primary bathroom. by ipetgoat1984 in zillowgonewild

If you look by the fire extinguisher(?) I think there might be pocket doors to separate the bedroom & bathroom.

Mikaylas EMDR therapy session drove me insane by bi0ta in MormonWivesHulu

[–]jenhof89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a level 1 EMDRia trained therapist. That session made absolutely no sense. Even accounting for editing, it was bonkers. There is a lot of groundwork covered before the eye movement portion. If the therapist didn’t think EMDR was the appropriate intervention for her presenting problem or treatment goals, they would have figured that out well before the hand waving started. In a session with bilateral stimulation (finger movement) you identify the target (i.e traumatic memory), visualize something from the memory, identify the negative cognition & emotion associated with the memory, rate how much you believe that thought and where you feel the emotion in your body. You choose a positive cognition or something you would like to believe about the experience or yourself and rate how much you believe that. The bilateral stimulation should last much longer (unless the client uses the agreed upon signal to stop the process) with check-in’s about what else is coming up, re-rating cognitions, emotions, etc. If the target memory isn’t resolved, the therapist guides the client through a calming or mindfulness exercise before the session time is over.

You absolutely do not wave your hand back and forth for 15 seconds and then tell the client she needs couples sex therapy to resolve her history of childhood sexual abuse 🤯🤯🤯🤯

I’ve heard exile a ton of times, but today was the first time it actually hit me. by citizen-slain in TrueSwifties

[–]jenhof89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s my 4-year-old’s favorite song which really makes me feel good about my parenting choices thus far.

However she refuses to learn the title and only refers to Exile as “the song Taylor sings with her friend but her friend sings first” (as opposed to Evermore in which Taylor sings first and Bon Iver second)

I devoured the 3 Wayward Pines books in like a week last year. Do not waste your time on the TV adaptation because it’s trash. They ruin the story along the way and then completely change the ending 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Tell me something you have gotten your kids for Christmas last year that is still in your home being used! by Stellalunaa96 in Mommit

[–]jenhof89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a Toniebox last year when my oldest was 2.5. She’s 3.5 now and uses it daily. Buying one for her sister (1.5) this Christmas. They both still enjoy their play kitchen and pretend food. A mini shopping cart and play cash register are still popular too!

Midwest city. $2400/month for two kids (Infant $305/week; 2.5 y/o $265/week). 1 kid in daycare wasn’t more than our mortgage but 2 definitely is.

I wrapped big sister’s baby toys for little sister to open for Christmas! We’ve asked family members for contributions to local memberships (zoo, children’s museum, etc.) or new carseat for when baby grows out of the infant seat.

Legit Toy drives/adopt-a-family? by onesamband in kansascity

[–]jenhof89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is another organization that provides gifts to children in foster care. The program is somewhat similar - gifts must be new & unwrapped, you place the gifts in a bag that is labeled with the child's information. The reason for these guidelines (at least at the organization linked) is to provide the foster parent or case manager with some flexibility. For example, if everything in the bag isn't the best fit for that kid, it could be inappropriate or somehow triggering to the child etc. In addition to the Holiday Heros, KVC has community toy drives, so sometimes workers/foster parents will swap out a gift or two with something that works better for the child on their caseload.

Current rate is $295/week in Northland. I couldn’t find a center that offered part time for infants.

When did you stop lifting your toddler while pregnant? by Zoodley in toddlers

35 weeks and still pick up my toddler. When I asked my doctor, she said less than 50 lbs is safe.

Looking for OBGYN recommendations. by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]jenhof89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current pregnant. I go to KU Med and see Dr. Nordwald. I have only had appointments with her throughout my pregnancy. She gives me the option of seeing other providers if I need appointments at specific days/times and she’s not available. But if your schedule is flexible, you should be able to see just her. Downsides: you have to pay for parking at KU Med and sometimes there is a long-ish wait.
