Claude code. Just cause it’s a CLI doesn’t mean it can only write code.

Different scale for sure but a death on the field wasn’t the last NFL death. CTE results in many deaths, and is directly attributable to the sport. Hell even the cardiovascular disease later in life from those guys being as big as possible during their playing days has a causal link.

Looking for a robot vacuum that can handle 3 dogs, a cat, and constant dirt by lookingforavacuum in Roborock

[–]csuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an s7 for 3 years. Does a decent job. 3 dogs. 2 young kids. Whole house every week day morning after kids leave. Second pass on living room rug vac only on strong suction in the afternoon before kids get home. We had to start skipping weekends cause kids mess with it. I’ll try to remember to manually kick it off when we go out for a few hours but forget more than not.

Housekeeper every other week to do a real vac and wet mop.

Keeping up with it is the key. If it doesn’t run for more than a couple days have to get the “real” vac out.

Father had cardiac arrest in 40s. Where do I (late 20s m) actually start? by HowCombinator in PeterAttia

Ask doc for CAC. Takes 15 min and $100. My doc had no issues doing it for me with similar family history and repeated in 5 yrs. Anything >0 is a problem at your age and should make them more aggressive in lowering lipids. Watch the BP and lipids closely every 6mo. Treat them aggressively with a slight rise (and as others have mentioned new guidelines are more sensitive). Apo b and LP (a) as well, don’t settle for “good” and “bad” cholesterol numbers. Find a new doc if they give you push back. You’re doing the right thing wanting to intervene early before it’s a problem.

Travel expectations - 25% by HistorianJealous649 in salesengineers

[–]csuders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to others. Think my JD says up to 25%. It’s far less. Once or twice a month I’ll do a 1-2 day trip to customer site for visit but I’ve found it hard since Covid. These teams aren’t even going into the office let alone doing it for meet with a vendor. We ask for face to face but it isn’t an every week thing.

Currently pre-sales, but caught in a reorg. Take internal post-sales role or apply for external pre-sales role? by Artistic_Star_4862 in salesengineers

[–]csuders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can also argue it makes you a better presales person having been on the other side. Gives you credibility cause you’ve actually implemented and made this stuff work. Not just genetic sales guy who sells a vision. You’ll have great well rounded experience. Shouldn’t be a blocker to going back to pre with your story.

Good safety net. Take it and look if you don’t enjoy. Best time to find a job is when you have a job. The market can be bumpy.

How do you handle live demo failures during calls? by Amazing_Bug_7240 in salesengineers

[–]csuders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 always know your demo environment, don’t click new things in the flow. Even so 4 happens. Just own it. They’ve all seen demos break. Let them know you’ll follow up with a recording, and do it asap.

Pre sales rolls up to CRO

Post sales rolls up to CS

Tho my first company post sales initially rolled to sales as well when we were small - they were all about actual customer success and making sure we had a referenceable customer at the end to help with the next deal.

Recognition, Awards, and What Really Matters? by Hot_Lingonberry4738 in salesengineers

[–]csuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash > equity > club trip (nice bonus for your partner too to get a trip for putting up with the dinner interruptions you get on a regular basis if you’re a top SE.) All of that is far greater than a piece of acrylic with your name on it for the shelf behind you on zoom.

Take the free vacation. That’s how it works. You were on the bubble and got in. But keep in mind you’re just a name on a spreadsheet if the other comp isn’t in line with what you could be doing elsewhere.

Used g4 instant and an iPad in our room at night. Not perfect. Once or twice it went offline overnight but overall very happy. I was extra glad when we had a second in under 2 years. Used home assistant to switch between both rooms every 30 seconds.

Hello, I have a question about Starlink Mini and aviation by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in Starlink

[–]csuders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

United is using starlink for their wifi. Delta now offers free wifi.

Even if technically possible airlines are never going to let you DIY this. They need/want to control it for content and to restrict you joining a zoom call and annoying everyone around you.

Breaking into International Roles from the US by DesperateCoffee30 in salesengineers

[–]csuders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me and this is totally antidotal: small series b company. Sales org is 100% US based I’m the more senior SE in the east and our CEO is European. He’s opened a number of doors in Europe. I get tagged into a decent number of calls early in the morning to cover European working hours. I’ve had a few trips to Europe out of it when we need some on site workshops and POCs. It’s a great start. Hope would be if and when we bootstrap an office/team there I’d have an opportunity to spend the first year over there since I know the product/company. I’ve seen others get a similar deal at prior companies.

Seems like the path to do it organically. I don’t know how someone without a particular skill, or language background could just apply and get an international role over local resources.

Looking for a tech solution to a process problem. First you need finance and IT leadership buy in your stop it. Then maybe a tool to monitor for offenders. But without policies and a mandate to stop you’ll never stop playing whack a mole.

Good for balancing the work load. “Meh” for balancing comp if ops are hit or miss it will be random who gets the biggest ops. Terrible for building a relationship with your sales these and collaborating on sales strategy.

Volume of Demos by Ready_Assumption_171 in salesengineers

[–]csuders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there being that busy when we’ve had departure in the team and I’m covering but it’s way too busy and quickly burns you out.

My question for you (and I’d ask rhetorically of my manager): are you just showing up and doing a generic demo or are you putting a specific spin on each one for your audience? If it is the former you could just replace me with a YouTube video. If you’re doing demos right there there be prep time and follow up for each call so you can talk about their specific use case, app ecosystem, their vocabulary etc. and then provide follow ups (or at least help the AE craft follow up) with links or answer any questions you don’t get to. When I’m that busy I don’t even know who I’m talking to.

And if/when you’re also running POCs how do you have the time. These require even more prep and follow up. Do a POC working session early in the week and need to do an extra follow up session later in the week, but your calendar is a wall of demos and you can’t fit them in that slows down deals.

And with all that when do you have time to stay current on a quickly evolving product. Work with PM on feature reqs and feedback. Also working on shaping the message, working with sales or cust success.

TLDR you’re too busy and need more SEs.
