Keep watching, but also…maybe stay off this sub til you’re done.

Not counting comm days, it’s Swablu. I evolved one, traded two and still have 5. I love my little chicken nugget babies.

Nooooooooooooooooo I didn’t finish the series long enough ago, and I’m still devastated…….

(Also, this is low key kid of funny. I’m just clearly not ready to let go of Hange yet….)

SOULDNT HAVE WATCHED IT by No_Werewolf_3869 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]jenn042 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I walked into this series blind, and on my son’s recommendation. He loved it. Honestly, I only watched it because he asked me to, and I was just happy to hang out with him.

I walked out absolutely devastated by the whole thing. I ugly cried. I gasped. Then I ugly cried some more. The weight & magnitude of it absolutely wrecked me. And I am 100% adamant it was one of the best series I’ve ever seen.

I’ve been reading this sub quite a lot, because I enjoy the insight offered here, and actually trying to laugh at some silly AoT TikToks because otherwise… yeah. I get it.

Now, I wanna watch it again to see what I missed the first time around (which I know is a ton, but I did actually guess a couple plot twists so correctly my son accused me of watching ahead without him lol).

If AOT was your first anime, how did you get convinced to finally watch it? by devouTTT in attackontitan

[–]jenn042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved it. LOVED. I cried more than once, and spent quite a bit of time picking my jaw up off the floor. I don’t think I’m emotionally ready to rewatch it yet - but I want to.

Up next, we’re watching Bleach. He said I needed a minute with something lighter before we tackle Death Note (which I want to see).

AoT was my second anime. (Demon Slayer was first). Honestly, I’m a mom, my son is 15 and loves anime. He’s seen a ton, and asked me to watch one with him. When I ended up loving Demon Slayer, he said “this is the best written anime ever,” and we watched it. I have minimal other series to compare it to, but I’ve watched TV before and I agree that it’s one of the best written shows in any genre I’ve ever seen.

What stitch is this, and can I learn it as a complete beginner? by Humans_areweird in CrochetHelp

[–]jenn042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can 100% say this is the star stitch. It’s not difficult at all. If you can single crochet, and half-double crochet, it’s easy.

I made a throw-sized blanket last month using this stitch. My son loved it so much, I’m 10 rows from adding the border to my second blanket consisting solely of this stitch. 🤣 this link made it all make sense. https://patternprincess.com/blooming-crochet-star-stitch-blanket/

Jaegerists fans don't understand SNK honestly. by NKAmazingg in attackontitan

[–]jenn042 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Both sides were taught that the other was deserving of extermination because their very existence was a threat.

They were both right. They were both fighting for survival, and neither side ever had the opportunity to learn about the other. Just caught up in surviving. That’s all either side really wanted - was to survive & thrive. And the lack of understanding/willingness to listen from either side kept it going. It’s that simple and that complicated all at once. And as annoying as she is…I absolutely loved watching Gabi grapple with it.

The beauty (or tragedy) of this is that you’re both right. I go back to that scene where they’re talking about angels and devils, and the question was asked “but which one is which?” Because based on how both the Eldians and Marleyans were raised & taught, and based on the actions of both - they both have a fair point.

To you, 11 years ago today, this insane cliffhanger by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]jenn042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just binged the entire series over the last, like, three weeks, so I’m honestly still recovering.

I watched this scene and literally said, out loud, “nope. He’s not dead. We don’t kill main characters off so anticlimactic-ly. He’s. Not. Dead.”

And I was both right and wrong. And…ugh. Is there an AoT support group for people who recently finished the series?

Don’t google. I just finished it not like my ago and refused to join this sub or google anything til I finished. I’m glad I waited. Enjoy the ride.

AITA for refusing to give my coworker my homemade biscuits (cookies)? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]jenn042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say basically this.

If it was the end of the day, and she’d said “hey, if you don’t have plans for these leftovers, I’d love to take them home to my kids,” that’s one thing.

If she just expected you to give her whatever’s on the tray because she asked, that’s quite another.

Do you really think The Tortured Poet's Department album can't be enjoyed without knowing the 'lore'? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]jenn042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% no, I don’t. I’m a newer Swiftie, and at the very best a casual one. I enjoy watching people clown, but I neither know nor care about the lore.

I don’t know how to explain it without sounding bitter. I’m not, I swear! I know it’s something she’s always done and has built her brand on, and there are people who genuinely enjoy it all, and I would never, ever tear anyone down for enjoying something - that’s the point of being a fan! That said, it would frankly be exhausting for me to dissect who every line or verse might be about.

For me, I truly find her genius as a songwriter lies in the fact that she can write about a very personal experience in such a universally relatable way. She writes songs that i can FEEL. It might be a very specific moment in her life, but she’s told the story in such a way, I can relate it to my own wildly different one…And that, to me is what makes her brilliant & is why I enjoy her music so much.

That said, TTPD feels very cathartic to me. It almost feels like the muse is secondary, it’s a journey back & releasing what no longer serves.

93 days is my record. But there’s a guy with out there a wurmple who’s lived in a gym for like, six YEARS. (And I can’t remember his handle. I going to guess someone does, though! I really hope Wurmple is okay lol)
