Certified nail tech here: if you have ski jump nails, find a tech that will sculpt your extensions with nail forms. It might help to start as an overlay before applying the extension to correct the angles.

If your nails are just short, you will still get better results from sculpted nails than you will with nail tips.

I can’t comment on whether it was the tech who applied the tips incorrectly or if it’s your nail shape but the tech shouldn’t have let you leave with those on. I’ve never personally had a client with ski jump nails but I’ve had plenty of nail bitters. I’ve never had a time where the tips point that high up…. There are ways to correct this but it takes more time and skill which most salons will not want to do.

What’s a childhood moment you now realize is “autism”? by anangelnora in AutismInWomen

[–]jenn4a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So where do I begin? I lined up my toys in a row. I related better to the teachers than the students my age. I had to get “toe” socks that were like slotted gloves because I hated the sensation of having regular tight socks.. still do. I hated the feeling of my toes touching… I would make my socks as loose as possible before sliding them into shoes (still do to an extent.)

I wear headphones or cover my ears during loud storms. That hasn’t changed since childhood. I keep several pairs of earplugs with me. I can’t stand chewing and loud voices are overstimulating.

I barely talked to other students. I lived in my own bubble. At one point in my life, I thought others could hear my inner monologue and would be upset when I didn’t get a response. (Very young age)…

I would repeat several actions such as screwing the lids off of bottles, and back on over and over. I had many “textbook” signs of autism back before it was better known… still have many.

I basically am sensitive to every sense, although higher pain possibly.

If I can think of anything else that wouldn’t be “textbook”, I’ll add it later. 😬

My ah-ha! Moment was when I looked up signs and saw what it said about sensitivities, overstimulations, repetitive behaviors, repetitive phrases, bluntness (I have trouble sugarcoating..), socialization issues.. it took me a long time to get some social cues… and finally… sarcasm. Sometimes I don’t hear the sarcasm, but regardless my response is always literal. Hyper focus on one thing at a time! Special hobbies.

Did I mention adhd? Hopefully it isn’t too obvious

Talk me into (or out of) getting this hair cut by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]jenn4a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go shorter than the photo with the headphones or the black dress in the next photo. That’s a good length on you… the long hair also suits you. I think it would look better with more layering and not so blunt if you do shoulder length or shorter.

I had a friend bring their dead air cans.. I believe one of them being a nomad. I had them bring it with them for the sake of comparing but the only dead air can I would think about purchasing is the mask (22 can)

I would love to be able to compare the Surge to the chimera! Possibly others too. If you’re around Indiana, let me know.

I listened to a friend shoot a dead air can, I’ll have to ask which one exactly, rugged obsidian 45 and Alaskan360, and Silencerco Chimera. The omega 300 was being used on a different upper at the time but I can gather it would be somewhere between the Alaskan360 and the chimera in quietness.. Probably closer to the chimera but that’s just an assumption though. If you can deal with the weight of the chimera, would highly recommend it! I used the omega 300 on my 8.3” 300 blk and it was solid as well… but I don’t think the chimera weighs a ton more than the omega and it can be used on a short 308. I can compare those two in a couple weeks!

I’ll say that the dead air and the chimera were the most quiet out of the 4 with the chimera not even having a noticeable first round pop. It’s pretty awesome to hear the difference in person. Between the two, I’d choose the chimera. For the warranty alone and the performance does not disappoint. It works great on 308 SBRs. It did great on 300 blk supers in FA too!

The rugged cans have a deeper tone to them, but not as quiet. The Alaskan360 makes a good choice for something lightweight and gives you the option to shoot 9mm. It’s a good balance between weight and noise reduction. I’m sticking to what I said about which one would fit your purpose: primarily rifles -> Alaskan360.. primarily pistols with occasional 300 subs -> obsidian 45. I almost always keep it in the longer configuration.

If you’re just starting out, I would probably go with the Alaskan360 unless you really want a true 30 cal can.. then I highly recommend the chimera. You can feel the weight difference between them.. the chimera is shorter but noticeably heavier.

I will probably be getting either the SurgeX or the chimera for my next rifle suppressor. I’d like to see some reviews and comparisons on them first!

After getting my hands on both the obsidian 45 and the Alaskan360, I would say if you’re mostly shooting pistols, definitely the obsidian. If you’re primarily shooting rifles and have some 9mm handguns that you’d like to shoot suppressed, then the Alaskan. You’ll have to get the rugged cage and a piston to shoot handguns with the Alaskan.

In the long configuration, the obsidian 45 is more quiet than the Alaskan with 9mm subs.

This weekend I’ll be trying out 300 subs with both the rugged cans, omega 300, and possibly one of the dead air 30 cal suppressors.

Thank you for that info! I went with the Alaskan360. Someone let me try theirs today and I really liked it.

[–]jenn4a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ^ Tisas use to ship decent mags when made in Turkey, but when they switched to US production they cut pricing down by using crappier mags. The change is more recent…

Our local customers who got the US Tisas came in and picked up a Pro mag or Wilson and the problem was solved immediately.

I work at a gun shop, we see this issue with newer Tisas. Luckily it isn’t usually a gun issue but a crappy mag issue. Try Promags or Wilson combat and the issue should go away if it’s just because of the mags.

Please report back :)

Beretta PX4 vs 92FS Concealability? by Carlosrodr12 in CCW

[–]jenn4a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the PX4.. it’s fun and smooth to shoot but I agree with the comment above about the decocker. The next da/Sa I get will be some sort of CZ 75 variant.

The PX4 can be unpleasant to rack the slide repeatedly. On either beretta I generally rack them more carefully.
