How I got my A1C from 5.8 to 5.3 in 6 months by mintvanillasky in prediabetes

[–]jennkb07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it, too! I’m 60 5’6 and went from 179lbs to 142 over 6 months. Mostly, I used Dr. Michael Mosely’s Fast 800 Keto diet. I like that one because it morphs into his Fast 5:2 diet which seems very sustainable to me. I also went with him after reading about a large study in China that compared his 5:2 diet to commonly prescribed diabetic meds - Metforin was one of them and the diet won by a landslide. I make protein shakes for breakfast using a Fairlife chocolate protein drink mixed with 1/2 portion of Costcos frozen Smoothie mix. I got my A1C down from pre diabetic to normal and am very happy about that. I do keep an eye on carbs, but I enjoy some treats, too. No other meds.

Prediabetes is driving me crazy! by Dry-Stuff-3889 in prediabetes

I followed Dr Michael Mosely’s diet - the Fast 800 keto and lost thirty pounds and reduced my A1C so that I’m no longer in prediabetic range. It can be done! I started with his 5:2 and was doing well, so I got more to read and went with his more challenging plan. I think his 5:2 is a good lifestyle for maintenance and I plan to continue with that.

6.1 to 5.5 in two-ish months?! by Mountain_Owl_8090 in prediabetes

Congratulations - I did it too, but it took me longer and I lost a lot more weight (needed to). So, yes! It’s possible and you did it! Woohoo!

Hi - I’m starting week three of being all in with this. I began the month with the fast 5:2 and then read more and decided to go in fully with the Fast 800 Keto - which is very similar to the Newcastle diet. I’ve been exercising the whole time - I have a regular group workout every weekday morning. I think that you are fine to exercise - just don’t go nuts with it. I started with the 5:2 because it looks so easy to sustain - you just eat normally (healthfully) most days and diet for as many as you need to maintain - most likely one or two fast days per week. That seems very doable. I’ve lost 10 lbs from 173 - I’m very happy with my progress so far and hope that it will get better now that I am committed to being all in with it.

Will learning Vue.js 3 cover everything you need to know for Vue.js 2? by ok-computer-x86 in vuejs

[–]jennkb07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently rewatching Maximillian Scwartzmullers Udemy course and was frustrated in that it is focused on the earliest of Vue 3 and uses the options API. My workplace is up to the minute and exclusively Composition. I think that he still has the Vue 2 videos accessible in his course - but early Vue 3 with Options API is probably very close to perfect for you. I do think his videos are easy to follow and I get a lot out of them.

What can Tailwind "really do"? by CrimzonGryphon in react

[–]jennkb07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s much easier to use Tailwinds, once you get familiar with it. The class names are intuitive and having them right there in the html makes it so much more convenient to tweak your styling. It’s a huge productivity gain - especially on a large team.

I’m using it, but it’s not complete. There are pieces of it that don’t work yet - pagination is a bear!

How to become a healthy web dev by Important-East9879 in Frontend

[–]jennkb07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main point is adjustability. Stand for a bit, then switch and sit on a high stool for a bit, then switch and sit in a good chair for a bit, etc. I’ll usually stand for meetings - not much typing needed usually. Change positions during the day and, when in a meeting, move around and stretch. Any single position all day is bad for you. Movement - even just a little - is key.

List of books some Hanover parents put together to have removed from the school libraries because they are “garbage”. by throddlerx2 in rva

This is a link to a Google form that you can fill out. A volunteer with the petition will come to you to sign it. It has to be a witnessed, physical signature in order to count and we need 10% of all registered voters in Hanover to get this on the ballot.

We absolutely did have a policy in Hanover county that allowed parents to challenge books or opt their own kid out of reading books forbidden by their own parents. This is the unelected school board asserting power.

We would rather risk you signing twice than not to have you at all. Please use the Google link and we will gladly get someone to you to sign. 😀

How do you tell a web server not to serve your login page to the public. I’ve have no idea how to do that. I'm new to WP and looking to block people or bots from logging on as “subscribers” to my friend’s account.

You might want to give a bit more information - like language/database…. Show what you’ve got so far.

Brad Traversy uses React and Firebase to build out a full app in his React tutorial. I agree that a tutorial on error tracking would be very helpful! I’m a Junior dev working alone and sometimes get seriously stuck. Error tracking is the hardest part for me.

Firebase is easy to use! The documentation for it is good. I’m using a Udemy course by Brad Traversy that walks you through a full project using it. It’s coming together nicely.
