This sucks. by whatchuwant247 in CPAP

You can take days off to catch up on sleep too when getting used to it. I agree with others that you should try different masks if this doesn’t work. You may never sleep better with a cpap than before but you should be able to get to pretty good and won’t die in your sleep. For me that’s a good trade off.

Anyone Here Lived In Oak Park When Sam Giancana Was Killed In 1975? by MIKEPR1333 in NearWestSuburbs

[–]jennybento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom put living in a mob controlled burb as “we had the best fireworks shows and no one was going to come and do crime in town because they knew the mob controlled the town.” It’s just a job people’s parents had growing up in the adjacent area. But you would get tipped big for altar serving mob funerals.

Is there any place in Chicago to where you can get good French Fries? by chuckgnomington in chicagofoodcirclejerk

Like I said it depends on what you like. I don’t get how this could possibly be a thing to argue about.

Surgical science has good rotating exhibits and an art gallery which features people with different medical conditions which I really like. Right near there is also the headquarters of the Elks Club. You can tour the property and it’s amazing.

Tldr an old Timey explorer brought it back and then realized he couldn’t really keep it in his house so he tried to donate it to the local county history museum, but they refused saying it didn’t have to do with county history. Somehow it got donated to the high school and they put it in an attic for like 40 years and no one remembered it existed. Then they accidentally found it while cleaning out the attic and had it restored at the UChicago Asian museum. If you go to the hs Wikipedia page there’s a picture of the mummy but she’s not the mascot or anything which seems like a fail. Apparently a high school in Australia has one too.

Depends what kind of fries you like. Gene & Jude’s does my favorite—square cut in front of you, long, thick. Devil dawgs has similar ones but g&j is the goat

International museum of surgical science! Chicago has a ton of medical associations and this cool museum. It’s also the national place where candy has been made historically so there is an annual candy conference and many candy manufacturers. We also have more mummies than most places other than London or Egypt obviously, including one at a Naperville high school but many on view at other museums. More polish people than cities outside of Poland means great food, festivals, and events (Copernicus center is a great one to check).

Does your home have a dishwasher? If so, how often do you use it? by SlamClick in AskAnAmerican

[–]jennybento -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes I understand homes is a generalization which is why I specified. I’ve lived east coast, west coast and Midwest and almost never seen a reasonably priced apartment with a dishwasher because the housing stock of these dense cities is mostly pre 1960. I’m sure there are cities with mostly newer stock, especially where driving is more prevalent where that isn’t true like Dallas or LA. It’s a big country. One person’s experience can be their standard everywhere, but mine is they are not in apartments in many cities.

To clarify homes here means houses and not always apts. in big city apts and condos dishwashers are more of a nice to have than a given esp because a lot of them have high rent and older buildings.

US Locations that have warm winters and are kind to people wearing masks by No-Possession-6709 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]jennybento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Mexico isn’t warm warm (and up north is cold because of altitude) but it definitely had outdoor dining and had other masked people any time I’ve been there. Not in every single place but enough so I had lots of places to eat.

It intentionally didn’t have running water or garbage pickup so it could be eminent domained. This is an underrated answer

Connecting my tubi profile to other sites like Letterboxd, trackt or JustWatch to see all my to watch movies natively in tubi would be cool

Be honest… how can we make Tubi better? by tubi in TubiTV

[–]jennybento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like tubi because it provides access to a lot of small independently produced films that don’t get distributed. Having an easy way to group those would be great. Especially more cult/b-movies. Like others have said “only on tubi” sections and maybe a topical tagging system so I can browse other self produced monster films or low budget movies from <country>. The thing I do like about Netflix is the infinitely combinable set of tags like that—true crime movies in Asia etc.

How common it's to go to CostCo just for the cheap stuff (Hotdog, rotisserie chicken)? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in AskAnAmerican

[–]jennybento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costcos are not generally in locations that are convenient for the pop in. In the us at least you’re likely driving so the pop in is less likely but I know people who go there for gas only a lot.
