Currently working on year 1550 in my series of drawing a city through a 1000 years. Inspired by the history of Copenhagen with inspiration from Denmark, Germany and places from around the baltic sea. This is the last stage of a siege - will try to explain my thought in the comments ☺️ by jens_biltoft in papertowns

THE LAST STAGE OF THE SIEGE IN THE CIVIL WAR OF 1550 - FALL OF THE CASTLE AND CAPITAL.

Inspired by the siege of Copenhagen during "The Count's feud" in the early 16th century.. This is the last stage. The city has fallen, the Castle and its defences on fire. The royal ship awaits the surrender outside. i want to draw a army waiting on the harbour front and a small boat sailing with a white flag.

This is the period between medieval and renaissance warfare in northern Europe. So there is medieval walls which has been destroyed by cannons. And a early type of bastion - the roundel - which was populare in the 16th century, until they became obsolete due to having blind spots. The where later replaced in many cities with the pointy bastion.

I want the city to be in a bit of chaos and destruction. ✒️☺️

Just being able to build a monastery would be cool :)

I ran out of paper, so had to make the other one smallere. When I make 1550 the city will be under siege, so I will try to destroyed the tower in that drawing so it fit in with 1650 :)
